I am nowhere near an experienced enough knitter to recover in this complicated of a pattern - can barely do it in the basic garter.....boo hoo. Ripping out and back to clue 1 for me! It's not like don't still have 3 squares to do there!

No rest for the weary beginner! :knit:

Well, now that pics are being posted it seems the "hole" was a blessing in disguise -- my first half looked nothing like it was supposed to.... Practice practice practice - 2 1/2 in clue 1 and 2 in clue 2 left to do! :knit:

Lairy, I think it's cool that you are chugging along! :ugeek: Like Shandeh once said, it's by making lots of mistakes that we learn so much more. I was a weary intermediate with definite clue 3 issues, but I have taken two days off of knitting, despite the new clue, and feel ready to pick up the sticks again. :knit: I think I'll go ahead with clue 4 and then perhaps the mysteries of clue 3 will become apparent to me (along with Marilyn in Wisconsin's wise advice, which seems to best address the difficulty I'm having.)

Actually finished A clue!

Postby frozenscout » Thu Mar 08, 2012 6:40 pm

Well, I have finally finished one of the clues for the KAL, clue #2. I was so excited to get to put up the badge but I can't since I have the badges for the CAL clues #1-4. I am very sad  ! At least I can try out clue #4 now. I have managed to get at least one done of all the other KAL clues. Can't wait for the make up week.

Thanks, Bernat, for another KAL, I learned SO much on the first one, who thought I could cable !!
What a great gift for my daughter, I know she'll be pleased.

did you change needle size at all for clue 4 I have done one square of clue 3 and one side seems smaller even thou I used a smaller needle for the first 1/2 now I am doing clue 4 and wonder if I have to change the needle size

I have only worked on this clue a little bit during my lunch break today and it is already my favorite square. Partly is because colors A and B (Greek Sea/Aqua Frost) are my favorite of the 5. Most of all I really love this pattern and especially because it pulls all of the previous clues together. Hope to post some pictures this weekend. Now I anxiously get back to my knitting. :D
Clue 1: 5 of 8 completed, may re-do 2
Clue 2: 3 of 4 completed
Clue 3: 5 of 8 completed, will re-do 1

I just finished my first square of clue #4 and I have a 9.5x10.0 square. For clue #3 I had to rip the first try and then knit very tight on the second try. I was using #9 needles and then had 9.5x9.5 squares. However the tight knitting causes pain so this time I will use #8 for the first half and #9 for the second. I really like the contrast, as my colors a white white and grape. The grape is my A color and afghan for GD.
