Hi Sharon. I plan to make the same border for thé top and bottom as for thé sides, partly because I like it so much, but also because I want thé borders to be thé same width.

I havé been thinking it through as I finish up my second long border. i think for thé top I Will havé thé lacy holes slanting upwards to the right, like the left border. I Will be able to pick up stitches along thé edge and knit upwards. I Will just need to calculate thé number of stitches. So far my borders are coming out to 4 small squares per one knitted block. There are 8 stitches per one small block pattern repeat. For thé seed stitch, i need to havé an odd number of stitches on thé row total, so Will havé to take that into account. I'm going to work out à chart and estimate thé pick up stitches before starting, so I won't have to redo anything.

Then for thé bottom, I will do thé reverse. I Will make thé lacy holes slanting thé opposite way, to thé left, like thé right border. I Will need to do thé border seperately on thé circular needle, knitting upwards from thé seed stitch border to thé top of thé small squares, and sew on as for thé first two borders, in order for thé stitches to all be going thé same direction. I plan to chart this out today since I am almost done with thé second border and Will get it attached by this afternoon.

What a great idea! Wish I'd thought of doing that. I'm just doing more rows of the seed stitch. I'm going until I use up the last of my next to last ball of yarn, maybe 13-14 rows.

That is also a really good idea. I have an extra skein of that colour so not worried about running out.

It's called a 4-day holiday and a spiral ham! :D The quiches practically made themselves and all I had to do was cook frozen carrots and au gratin potatoes. The kids helped make the eggs benedict, and my little chicken egg cooker poached the eggs. The first crew came at noon and brought beverages. I knitted afterwards on the couch while everyone watched the Masters golf tournament. Then more people (second set brought dessert) and more eating. Friday and today I was able to knit quite a bit. Skyped with my Mom who said, can't wait to see the next bit, and an hour and a half later had the second border on and photo sent. Am practicing à swatch for modifiéd top and bottom borders to get my calculations right before starting. Hope to finish this week, as next week-end we are going out of Town and I don't know if I could finish this while riding in the car!
