I just might give this challenge a try... I've been making baby items like mad lately (I have 7 pregnant bellies around me right now) and I could use a distraction. If I can make a clue or two in-between baby projects I won't get so bored! Now I just have to decide if I want to knit or crochet...

I too am a very beginning beginner. I just learned to knit at the very end of Oct. 2011. This sounds like fun and an easy way to learn some new stuff. Is this project going to be a baby blanket, afghan, throw...? I'm thinking I'm going to give this a try and learn something new!!
Happy knitting to all :)

From the stated dimensions, it will be large throw/small afghan size.

Now this is making me wonder if I should try the KAL as well. I am a newbie knitter - but I can really only do purl and knit stitches ... I will try at least. I am intrigued by the difference in the two patterns based on color ratios. I can at least try and download the clues if I get stuck and complete later if I get overwhelmed with my limited skills. Sounds like fun.

For mcdtheta, I am an experienced knitter (about 50 yrs worth) and I've also taught knitting. Believe me when I say that all you ever need to do is purl and knit stitches! There are some other techniques and such things as casting on and binding off, but it all comes down to those 2 options. So if you know the knit & purl stitches you are good to go.

The same way you posted that :) We have a KAL/CAL-specific questions post over here, and it would be best to ask there.
