It got here early!!! My yarn wasn't scheduled to get here until Monday, but it came this afternoon!! Now, to practice restraint and wait till February to use it. Luckily I've got some scrap yarn I can play with in the mean time.

You could always work on a gauge swatch with your new yarn!
Just look at the bottom of this image, to see the gauge required for both blankets.

I'm still waiting, not sure when it is expected. This may be the first time I actually make a swatch! :inlove:

Mine came today! The colors are even prettier than they looked on my monitor. I ordered enough to do one for the KAL and one for the CAL. I used the colors recommended for Beautiful Things (KAL) and Town and Country (CAL). I had so much trouble picking my own colors, that when I saw these (on a PDF on the Bernat Blog), they looked so good, I knew I couldn't go wrong. I keep peeking in the box -- can't wait for the first clues!

I will probably end up making a swatch this time as well. I want this to be as close as possible. Usually I don't bother making a gauge swatch I just know that I crochet a bit tight and usually go up a hook size. This time I want to try to be as accurate as possible, so I think I'll make one. I will probably wait till closer to time to start the CAL though since I'm working on a knitted scarf and some dishcloths right now.

Yay for yarn packages! :D

I have been swatching with my yarn, and think I have it worked out. I think I might do a test wash and dry with one square.
