Cool. Did you get different colors?
The CAL can be done all in one color if you want, but the KAL really needs color contrasts to look right.

I was feeling bad because I couldn't buy the Waverly right now and had to use some Vanna's Choice I found in my stash but I see others are using different yarn too. I'm hoping that eventually I'll be able to do it in Waverly too because the yarn really did look nice and felt great when I was petting...errr...feeling it in Joann's. So far it's looking nice though. I decided on a somewhat Ravenclaw/Slytherin colors from Harry Potter but it's not exact.

I'm using Loops & Threads because it was on a great sale at Michaels and I had a coupon. Single Mom on a budget :/

I may have to look at the one that uses the bulky/Chunky yarn from before because I have a ton of Baby Blanket that needs to be used up.

I am using Berroco Vintage DK. which is 22 sts on 4mm. I switched it up to the correct gauge using 6mm. I really like the drape of the fabric...can't wait to see how the squares go together :)

I am also not using Bernat. The town I live in just doesn't have much of a selection of Bernat and I wasn't able to come up with 5 colors that I liked enough to put together. Because of the yarn differences I probably should have made a gauge, I didn't think much of it and completed all of Clue 1 before realizing they are too small. I seem to be pretty consistent though since clue 2 is turning out small as well. In the end I think this will be a good thing since the blanket will be used more as a throw on the back of my couch.

I am also using a different yarn (RH from my stash). I did this because I came across this CAL late at night and just wanted to start it without any delay :D And if I use up stash yarn and can make room for more yarn

I am currently working on 2 CALs, and started a 3rd lol. The first one I splurged and bought the Waverly yarn, the second from my stash. All of my stash yarn is the same brand, I have been loyal to that brand for years, it is readily available and inexpensive. But as I am working the two afghans, I am finding I really dont like my stash yarn. I love the way the Waverly feels and drapes. It's so soft and easy to work with. Although I may have to use up my stash yarn on small projects I don't think I will ever make another afghan with it. I am a new and very happy loyal customer to Bernat yarns. I'm so very happy I decided to do this CAL, otherwise I never would have tried your yarns!!! :bravo:

I also had a problem trying to find Waverly, and although AC Moore had the best selection, they did not have enough of a color in a single dyelot for any of the colors I wanted. Since I bought my yarn just before the KAL started, I did not want to wait for yarn to arrive, so I bought Simply Soft instead. I love the feel and drape of the Simply Soft.

I am already planning two more afghans from this KAL for my grand niece and nephew. I will not be using Waverly for them either, because the color selection is just not right for preschoolers and primary grade kids. His afghan will be red, yellow, blue, green and purple, in the crayon box shades. Hers will be a mixture of pinks, purples, and lavender or else pastels, if I cannot find enough of a mix in the pink, purple, lavender family.
Knitting for others makes the world a better place.
