I also block on my ironing board. I pin them while dry then mist with a spray bottle of water.

LOL Shandeh!!! I have been only blocking one at a time because I only have enough pins for one!!! I just realized how silly that is.![]()

It could take a very long time to dry the ones in the middle. When you throw a wet towel on the floor (not that I'd ever do that, cough cough) and pick it up days later, the middle of the crumpled towel is likely to still be wet. It's the same idea.
