...i think what drives me the most batty is that it's just so bloody repetitive. oh. and weaving in the loose ends on the squares that are half-and-half colors. the original pattern I had left 14 loose ends per 3" x 3" square....i changed it a bit and got it down to 11. but UGH 11 loose ends on EACH little square.

that method works great on single crochet, but not so well on doubles...especially in something a bit open like a granny. The contrast color shows thru'.

in case anyone is interested, I found it on Ravelry - it's from: Leisure Arts #5135, Crochet Prayer Shawls: 15 Wraps to Share. It lists for $9.95 on amazon, and less from other online sources.

What fun this CAL is ... I am really enjoying the activity ... but also have within reach at my 'nest' (read reclining chair) an Aran-type sweater for my grandson, 2 pairs of Kroy self-striping socks, one for my granddaughter and the other my daughter (each is in a small easily portable bag ready to go in the car with me as I wait as my husband shops!), an assortment of left over worsted weight yarn to be crocheted into Granny Squares for assembly into lap/baby afghans to be sent to Canada Comforts for distribution in Third World countries, as well as cotton dishcloths for CC to be used as birthing cloths, also abroad. I also have my current book (this one is Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson) ... should I also add that I am retired??!!

Do you mind if I ask what kind of beading wire you used for this? I was using Nymo for bracelets but it kept breaking on people. I am trying to figure out what would be more secure, and the beads you are using are similar. Thank you in advance.

now i'm in trouble. while admiring Debby's beautiful "full circle" prayer shawl, i remembered a shaped afghan I wanted to try so i tracked down that pattern...one I had never tried yet because the pattern was almost $10....and accidentally discovered it IS available for free.

so then i was thinking..i'll have to buy the yarn for it. and realized i HAVE some yarn that would be perfect!

great. now I have yet another ongoing project. yay me just what i wanted!!!!

so I have:
The CAL
2 small purses (they'll be done tonight)
the guitar blanket (bleck) (about 45% done)
a sweater/jacket for myself (about 30%done)
3 unfinished small scarves that i got frustrated with
a fluffy 2-strand boucle afghan (about 10% done)

and now the Mandala Throw I'm going to be starting shortly.

I have used the method shown on this video and it works great with the new color you are adding. At least that would be fewer to weave in later and it works with double crochet. Hope this helps.
