What are YOU working on to pass the time?

Talk about the KAL/CAL in a general sense. Knitters and crocheters, get to know one another while discussing your choices of Bernat Waverly shades!

Yes it was! I didn't think it would ever end. One day, when I was taking a break from the endless knitting, I decided to figure out exactly how many stitches were needed to make the star blanket. 62,500!!!! I was using TWO 40 inch circulars when it got to the outer edges.

Herrschner's Blue Ribbon Afghans- "Blue Star" published in 1998 in Leisure Arts Book. When finished it looks like a big 8 point star quilt like grandma would have made. I did it in shades of lilac, wisteria, purple and a variegated purple and green. Came out very nice and would give large size with out all the rounds. Now I'm thinking... add front and back post stitches to give the star some texture, change out some of those grannies for squares with more texture and interest... maybe linked hearts ... :reading: gotta go draw this up and check my "recipe box"- literally a box where I store motif ideas(remember I'm old school). Maybe when this is done I'll have figured out how to post a picture. :hellogoodbye:

I definitely want to see a photo of that!

I estimate what I might need, and end up need MORE. evidently, LOTS more. I just blew through the extra skein I bought, and I have 1 3/4 rounds of border left. GRRR.

Wow! So pretty Jazz. Is that knit or crochet?

Thanks for the link--that is very interesting--love the wall blocking technique!!!!!

Ha! I was at my wits end, trying to find somewhere to block that big afghan. It was knit all in one piece, so blocking had to wait until the end. And it REALLY needed blocking, because my points were curvy.

The wall was the only place that had room for my blanket, so it was an easy decision. :)

Beautiful, Shandeh! So where did you end up blocking it?

On a wall that I was about to repaint. The wall had some issues anyway, so the pinholes were just one more thing to fill in with putty. Ha!

Wow that's beautiful work!
I've often said that I want to learn needle point next. My hubby rolls his eyes. (I knit, crochet, rug hook and draw)
But, there just isn't enough hours in the day!

Well, thank yo very much!! Actually it is counted cross stitch. I have crocheted for 4 years, knitted for about 30, embroidered & needlepoint for 50 years, etc :) I think I would go nuts without a project (or 2 or 3...) to work on. And, with insomnia...I have extra time...lol
