I've finally gotten back to that guitar blanket, and the technique definitely shortens my time on tying off loose ends. so...Thank you whoever that was! (I don't have the patience right now to go trolling thru 30+ pages to find it....lol)

I hope that by now you have already found what you were looking for--I have not been at the computer very much lately. I think what you want is this video:

I have used it and it does work.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Either my imagination is in overdrive or I actually saw a stained glass croched afghan photo that was posted somewhere. I have already looked through every page of this thread and it is not here. Does anyone have any ideas on where it is or does someone know where I can find a pattern--what I am looking for is not on Ravelry or on any of the major yarn company sites. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

Since she doesn't crochet, I figured she meant a ripple. She only wanted two colors, and I thought boy, that's going to be boring. So I came up with a way to make it not boring. It's all back loop only sc, done with an H hook (for me this is tiny stitches). The bands of color are graduated from the bottom up, 2 rows of burgundy, 4 of buff, 1 of burgundy, 4 of buff, etc. I continued this up from 4 rows of each to 6 rows of each with two rows of each color as a separator. When I got to the middle, I did a row of buff, a row of burgundy, a row of buff then did a mirror image of the first part in reverse. The back loop only sc made it look quite different from one side to the other. Also, when flipped over, it is the opposite (this is most noticeable when looking at the center of the afghan).

Nice work! I like those two colors together, and your zig zag row arrangement is fun!

Thanks, Shandeh! :D

Thanks, Shandeh. I did see that one completed on one of the sites I visited and it is beautiful. The one I was looking for that I saw "somewhere," was like one large piece of stained glass. I am going to keep this one in mind and continue to hunt--I have some time before I will be ready to begin it.

Hi Zhanie,

Sorry I didn't see your question. Poke me or something next time I don't answer, okay. :) Hee hee!

I buy the liquid starch and mix half water and half starch and stir well. I then place the doily in the bowl and let it get good and wet. I gently squeeze the excess and block with pins and it comes out nice and stiff once dry.

I saved the extra starch mixture in a quart canning jar.

What you could do is take your hooks and see what size fits best in the stitch where you left off. Well actually, I'd probably frog a stitch or two because the last stitch finished, might be a little bigger or smaller. What I'd probably do also is begin with a smaller hook and work towards a larger hook to see which fits in the stitch.

Laina :)

It is lovely!! How did you block it? I have a doily that is almost finished but I haven't worked on it for over a year because I forgot what hook size I was using. But now, thanks to the CAL and KAL, I understand the principle and th power of changing my tension and blocking.... :hrmm:

Whew! I finally finished another WIP. YAY!!! :)

Sometimes I think I'll never finish everything I'm working on. And then I start a new project which makes it worse. I'm sure you all can relate, right?

This is the graduation bear I finished and just gave to the graduates mom to give to her daughter. The picture looks like the bear is blue, but it's actually an eggplant color which is Miranda's favorite color.
