I'm in the process of balling up all of my yarn for this and I'm super pumped for this! I wasn't sure at first if I was even going to do it, but I bought all of my yarn on Friday for it, so I'm committed.

I decided to go with:

Stone Brown
Turtle Green
Greek Sea
Breath of Blue
Beautiful Blue

I really wanted to use black and white, but the Zellers that I went to didn't have either of them. But I think it'll look just fine. Pictures to come once I'm done balling yarn!

I love your choices, but I agree, I think black and white and maybe shades of gray would look great. Now you got me thinking. Hmmmm...

What Yarn/Colors are everyone using?

Postby yodalover » Sun Feb 12, 2012 2:13 pm

I thought it would be fun to start a post where everyone can list the yarn and colors they chose for their afghan.

I've never done a CAL before, but i consider myself an expert crocheter and i don't mind joining squares so i thought i'd give this a try.

I looked at the Bernat Waverly colors online but didn't see anything i would buy... i'm the type that likes to pick out my yarns in person so i can see them all in the same light and together so i can make the decidion on which colors to buy.

I ended up at Hancock Fabrics and they had Lion Wool-ease on sale 30% off so i got a nice set of colors in this yarn. It is so soft and being able to see them all together, it will look great!.

The colors I got were:
MC: A pale pink called Heather Blush
A: A medium pink called Rose Heather
B: A dark pink called Dark Rose Heather
C: A light Grey called Grey Heather
D: A darker Grey called Oxford Grey.

I think they all go together nicely. I chose the pale pink as the main color so it wasn't tooo dark.

So, what is everyone else using?

I love all browns also. Depending on your preference, you have any type of palette at your fingers because brown is a neutral color - goes with everything. Maybe match to your personality. Me, I like brown with varying shades of pinks or browns with varying shades of blues. Brown and tonal tans looks very elegant. Browns with shades of greens looks very earthy. Good luck!

I resized your photo for you. You need to resize future photos that you post. You will find lots of free photo resizing programs on the internet. They work great.
