Hi! I just picked up my yarn today. I never looked at the Waverly line before and I really liked all the colors - seems like you can mix and match and of the colors in the Waverly lineup and end up with a beautiful piece. Here is what I chose:

A - Beautiful Blue
B - Willow
C - Butter
D - Birch White
E - Porcelain Red

I admit, I am not thrilled with the limited color palette of Waverly. I found the color selections available did not work for me. For one thing, the palette eliminates jewel tones, very popular among young adults. I looked at yarns from other companies, and ended up with yarns from Caron's Simply Soft line to get a selection of colors that would work for me. I am making this afghan for a young couple being married this spring and needed colors that would work with rich blues.
Knitting for others makes the world a better place.

Since I plan to use this CAL afghan to be versatile for a beige/brown den or sage/terracotta living room, I am using Waverly colors: Antique (tan), Aqua Frost, Greek Sea, Pink Suede, Birch White

Postby debsknits » Sat Feb 18, 2012 5:01 pm

Ok. How do you know which yarn is A,B,C,D,E. Also there are more colors of yarn than letters for yarn. How do you know which color to use when. I've chosen Beautiful things color palate and I just don't know what to use when. HELP?????

You only need 5 colors of Waverly yarn to make either blanket.

If you make the KNIT blanket, you will need the following quantities.
Contrast A: 4 balls
Contrast B: 3 balls
Contrast C: 3 balls
Contrast D: 3 balls
Contrast E: 2 balls
According to the PDF documentthat shows recommended color selections, you will use the following colors from "Beautiful Things" for the knit blanket: A Porcelain Red, B Bitter Rose, C Sundrift, D Pink Suede, and E Irish Moss.

If you make the CROCHET blanket, you will need the following quantities.
Main Color (MC): 5 balls
Contrast A: 2 balls
Contrast B: 2 balls
Contrast C: 2 balls
Contrast D: 2 balls
According to the PDF document that shows recommended color selections, you will use the following colors from the "Beautiful Things" palette for the crochet blanket: MC Willow, A Porcelain Red, B Bitter Rose, C Pink Suede, and D Sundrift.

Hi everyone, I'm excited to join the KAL, last year I participated in the CAL for Bernat Cares Project Linus. I really enjoyed being a part of the project and am looking forward to a KAL this year for a change.

I just picked up my yarn today...the selection was not the best...I think the yarn's been out for a while for the KAL/CAL, but here's what I've picked:

A Incense
B Bitter Rose
C Sun Drift
D Willow
E Blue Gown

The colours looked nice together in the basket, I hope this combination turns out well!

Did my first square tonight, in rose and willow and it looks amazing! I can't wait to see the rose/sundrift combination tomorrow!

Happy knitting! :knit:
