I think a lot of us are picky about our colors, so you are in good company!

I think this photo shows the colors of the "Beautiful Things" line very well. Maybe it will help with your choices.

Re: Colours

Postby hunt0404 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 11:19 pm

Hi everyone! I have been crocheting for a couple years now, but this is the first time I am joining in on something this fun.

I must admit something, when I first started reading, I thought everyone must be crazy, picking colors is the easiest part. I mean I have a whole cabinet full of yarn, colors has never been a problem. WOW was I wrong. It has been easy in the past because I look at the pattern and can imagine what colors since I know the ending product. The not knowing, and wanting everything to be perfect....lol.

I went to a few sites trying to find larger pictures of the shades of colors, copied them, pasted them in my paint (yes, one by one) and then copying them into a larger box to move the colors around. I've officially lost it, yep, can't make up my mind now. Something which I thought would be so easy is just the opposite.

I have it down to two sets of five colors, which I think I will keep on my computer and stare at it for a day trying to decide. I can't wait to get this part over and start going, I am so excited.

You might change your mind again tomorrow morning, and that's okay too.
I changed my mind about 10 times when I was first deciding. It's a HARD decision! :hrmm:

ETA: Oh! And one more thing. Remember that you only need 5 colors for the pattern.

Hi Becca! :)

You just described EXACTLY how I choose my colors!
I copy and paste yarn colors in my Paint program just like that.

This is how my Paint document looked after I copied and pasted every single shade, and sorted it by color. I was such a rebel, ignoring the rules of color themes.

Good to know I am not the only rebel breaking the color scheme rules :bravo:

I think I have my colors chosen, but just to be sure, am going to sleep on it tonight and peek at them again in the morning. I can't wait to get started!!!

Re: Having problem with color choice

I have a sofa and two chairs in solid red and a recliner in a blue with little gold flecks. Other colors are pecan paneling and a honey oak breakfast table.

I've chosen :
Tibetan Red
Gypsy Gold
Colonial Beige
Cadet
Stone Brown

Any comments are appreciated since I also have the worst time choosing colors.

I'm planning to make one for my niece. She likes beiges/browns/greens, so I'm thinking of the following:

MC Sundrift
Contrast A Irish Moss
Contrast B Bitter Rose
Contrast C Willow
Contrast D ???

I'm torn between Stone Brown and Turtle Green for Contrast D ...

I was also playing with Town & Country, substituing Turtle Green for Cadet Blue, but I just don't know. I'm also afraid the Red may be too much for her.

I am open to any and all suggestions! TIA

I am torn between two color schemes. One of them is mostly from the simplicity palette for my living room. With a lot of brown and green. The other is just because I love blue and white together and the pink and green seemed to fit. I wonder if I can work on two at once. Maybe Ill keep the clues and make another later in the year. :hrmm: This is the first time that I've tried this but I am so very excited! :D Let me know what you all think!

I also had a bit of trouble choosing colors. I finally decided on the Simplicity Birch White, Aqua Frost, Butter, Colonial Beige and Turtle Green.
This will be for my bedroom which has green and beige.
(I'm finally going to make an afghan for myself!) :bravo:

This is my first CAL and I'm so excited.
