I am trying to figure out what you mean in your question. Are you talking about the round where you make two treble crochets together? That is the closest I can think of to a decrease. In this case it's being used to join the stars. I can help you make a pillow though, do you want to do clue number three all in one piece and turn it into a square? or are you thinking of joining lots of clues together for your pillow? I actually made a pillow front with the square clues, but it's probably not as interesting as what you have in mind.

Hope you see this as don't know how to respond to you. I'm not doing the crochet but the knit square (KAL) and the clue 3 question is doing the 2nd half of the square where decreases are done. Hope this helps.

I don't know the name of the design. It's just part of the KAL clues. I doubt that any of us know the name of that portion of the design. It might be an original stitch the Bernat designer came up with, which has never been published before.

Re: Name of pattern in Block

grandmasue wrote:I would like to make a pillow to with my Mystery afghan usimg the pattern in the second half of Clue #3. It is the decrease part where small lines show throughout the pattern. Can anyone steer me in the direction as to name of the stitch and how I would go about knitting a square for a pillow in this pattern?

Any help very much appreciated.

My first time messaging so if wrng area for this please let me know.

Thank you.

I got your message! I love that square. Do you want to make the whole pillow with the (let's call it the "little lines" stitch) little lines stitch? Do you want to work diagonally? I guess if you are going to go diagonally you just want to know how to do the increases from the beginning?

Yes Zhanie that is the one I want to do. You are correct that I don't know who t figure out the increase part of it. If I made pillow the same way as the square I would just increase till it was the size of the diagonal of the pillow form. Hope you can understand my jabbering. If you can help with the increase par tof it I would really appreciate it.

thanks Shandeh! Now I think I have to come up with something. This is how I think the pillow would start:

1st row: (RS). (K1. P1. K1) all in st. 3 sts.
2nd row: K3.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 5 sts.
4th row: K5.
5th row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 7 sts.
6th row: Knit.
7th row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 9 sts.
8th row: knit
9th row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit 3. k1below. knit 2. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 11 sts.
10th row: knit
11th row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit 4. k1below. knit 3. increase 1 st in next st. K1. 13 sts.
12th row: knit
13th row: Inc 1 st in fist st. Knit 5. k1below. knit 4. increase 1 st. in next st. K1 15 sts.
(now that should be five rows with a line, so now we make the line somewhere else)
14th row: knit
15th row: Inc. 1st in first st. knit 3. k1below. knit 5. knit 1 below. knit 2 increase 1st in next st. k1. 17sts.
16th row: knit
17th row: Inc. 1st in first st. knit4. k1below. knit 5. knit 1 below. knit 3. increase 1st in next st. k1. 19sts.
18th row: knit

OMG Thank you so much for the pattern. I'm still working on the border of my afghan (had too many birthday gifts etc. going at time of KAL) and don't have the pillow form. I'll print this out so that I have it when ready to start and hoping I have enough left over yarn.

Again thanks so much to all of you.
