POSTING PHOTOS in our Forum

Postby Shandeh » Fri Jan 13, 2012 4:35 am

One of our members asked how to post photos here in the forum, and I replied with a detailed answer.

I've decided to copy my post here, so you can all see how to post photos. I want us to be able to see each other's progress, share our joys, and have fun talking. Photos just make things better.

Hi Lotty!

There are a few ways to post a photo here in the Bernat Forum.

#1 - If you have the photo on your computer, you can scroll down below the message posting area, where you will see a teal blue square. There are two tabs at the top of that square. The first one says "Options", and the second one says "Upload attachment". Click the "Upload attachment" tab to open it up.

Now, the teal box will look different, and you can click the "Browse" button to search your computer for the image you want to display.

When you find the image file, double-click it, and you will be brought back to your message page. Now you will want to click the "Add the file" box, to the right of the "Browse" box.

Presto! Your image will be attached at the bottom of your post. You will see "POSTED ATTACHMENTS" above the teal box now. Your image will be there, and you can type in a comment in the "File comment" entry area. You can add more images if you want....just go through the same procedure for each image.

#2 - If you have your photo uploaded to a photo hosting site, there is a way to post your link here. It's much easier than option 1. Just copy the link for your photo, then come here to the message posting area, and click the "Img" button (which is located above your posting window). The "img" code will appear in your message, and you will just paste your link in between the two sets of code brackets.

#3 - There is another way to post photos from photo hosting sites, but you will need to follow the directions for your particular site. I use Flickr, and I just click the "Share" button on my photo page, then copy and paste the BBCode for the image I want to put in my posts. I'm not sure how it works with Photobucket, or other photo hosting sites, but maybe some other members here can help with that.

I hope this helps!

I'm going to be posting so many pictures once this CAL and KAL gets started. I can spend hours looking at pictures of crocheted projects. I like looking at all the picture of the last CAL also. :cooldude:

Do I have to resize a photo before posting it or do you do it yourself each time? thank you in advance

Good question!
Your image should be resized, or we will only see a small portion of it.

I think there are some free photo resizing programs available on the internet. I believe the normal photo posting size is 500-600 wide. I will get the details.

Just found a couple online resizers. Not sure how good they are, but you can try them out, and post some test photos here.

You can also resize your pictures with Microsoft paint and save it to your desktop. That's what I normally do.
