Just started the handle. I'll be finished this project in no time! It's the bag part that takes the longest and I find that part really hard to put down, it's kinda addictive :cloud9:

:cloud9: Thank you everyone! :knit: Julie, did you get a chance to make a few scales last night after the kiddies were in bed?

I did, I now have 3 rows of berry, 5 rows of plummy (variegated light purple) and 1 row of deep purple. Figure I'll do another 2 rows of the deep purple and then move on to the top of the bag. It might be quite colorful, but at least it will be a pattern of 3-5-3. I worked on it this morning during my daughter's ice skating, but then my fingers started to freeze  So now I have to wait again until bedtime. Oh well I can just go back to my CAL squares. I am hopeful I will be able to post a picture of the bag by early next week

I can't figure out 3rd rnd (Base rnd)!
Did it twice and I just cannot figure out what is wanted. My first mermaid round has huge holes in it. Is the 3rd supposed to fix those holes?
I got caught up on my CAL's so thought I would do this in the meantime since I cannot knit yet. Any advice?

Where are the holes? are they above the scales or inside the scales or between? Do your scales look good? I think that is the main part.
The third row works off the dcs on the first row for the most part.

[So basically you are making two dcs into the one dc that is between the scales,(this is to mark the spot where the scale will go on the next row), (1dc into next dc, 1 dc into next dc) then I put one dc into the middle of the next scale, then (1dc into next dc, 1 dc into next dc)] rep.

I hope this helps. :knit:
