I have one row done (so far i'm only working on this at lunchtimes at the design studio), and will get more tears shortly!

Cool! I'm using the same color for my handle and Teal heather for the main color.

dogfoster wrote:Shichemell, your bag is very nicely done! It really looks nice in a dark color. I have lots of dark purple yarn so maybe I will make one for my fanantic for purple aunt whose birthday was two days ago. Nice break for all the bobbles on clue 4. Thank you for posting the link for the cording part. Had you not done that I probably would not have considered the bag for her. Instead of bobbling, I tried the cord and it comes out nicely. Thanks for the help and idea...

No problem. :) I wish I could have made the original pattern for the handles to come out nicely, because I like the twisted look idea, but it just clumped into an ugly mess. My 7 year old wants me to make her a purse too, so I’ll try the handles again.

Yay to joining the fun!! I am really enjoying this project, although admittedly I am S...L...O...W having only accomplished 3 full rows of tears. I am using yarn from my very small stash (still a newbie at the yarn arts) so I will probably have a striped bag when complete. But since it is for my daughter who has a bright personality, it should work out just fine

I can't wait to see the striped bag when it is finished!! I think that different colours can really highlight the pattern. I am plannning to make another bag with verigated yarn. I hope that you can post picures.

Aww thanks for the encouragement! I just about finished my second color on it and really like it. Now I just to figure the rest of the yarn... May have force myself ( Yeah force... ) to go to the store on the way home tonight to add to my yarn collection so that the bag isn't a complete trainwreck of colors  I will defintely get pictures up once I finish.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. :) I hope that shopping for yarn wasn't too much trouble for you yesterday!

Oh, and I made the straps using two strands of yarn so they came out thick enough.

Hi Shichemell,

The link takes you to 'not found'. Thought maybe you wouldn't mind trying again. . . Pretty please? :-)

ETA.......never mind. Found it by doing a search. Thanks! :-)

What main color did you use for the purse? I love the flower too. Very creative! :-)

It’s some kind of dark/navy blue. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the actual name of the colour is. I have a bunch of odds and ends yarn with no labels left over from previous projects. Maybe I should buy those little tags you can stick into re-wound balls of yarn, so I know what I’ve got.

Hmmm, don’t know what went wrong with that link. :( Here’s the entire url:
http://rensfibreart.wordpress.com/handy-crochet-tips-tricks-2/novel-stitches/ If this doesn’t work, the cord pattern is on the ‘novel stiches’ page.

(Laina, I know you found it, but I thought I should probably post another link - thanks for telling me that my previous one doesn’t work)
