Have you tried using the chart?
It really helps me keep track of where I am in the pattern

I never used chart in knitting, but since I'm starting over and over, I might just do that, it seems to be my last option before quitting, Oh nooooo!!! I will not quit, this is suppose to go with the mermaid purse I made for my niece so I have to finish it!!!!!!

Just give it a try. It can't hurt!
Here's the video that Crystal from Bernat made, which shows the basics of following a lace chart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv6ls-lZM_s

Remember, when working OUR chart, we will follow each row from right to left, since we are knitting in the round. We are always working on the right side of the fabric in our beret. :)

Here it is : The Not-so-slouchy-beret. Knitted in Waverly. I'm redoing it in White Satin.

More How-To Videos For Our Project

Postby Shandeh » Mon May 14, 2012 11:29 pm

Here's the first video I made, showing how to work
Round 7 of our beret: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZdIBRLdbQA

Last night, I made a couple more videos, while working on my Slouchy Lace Beret in my knitting chair. I just grabbed the camera and tripod, and set it up beside me. I was too lazy to set up the camera at the white table, like I did for the KAL/CAL videos. :? (I'm exhausted, actually....this past weekend was the Spring Piano Recital for my piano students, so I didn't really get a real weekend this time.)

In the first video, I show how to place markers on a simple round, so you can set up 16 stitch sections for following the charted pattern more easily. I don't usually use markers, but some people prefer to use them.
Placing Markers

In the second video, I work the row 23, with the markers in place.
Slouchy Lace Beret - Round 23, worked with markers

I hope this video helps some of you!

I've been sick this week, but I really wanted to finish my beret. So, I sat up in my knitting chair and got it done. I had to re-do one row a few times, because I kept missing a stitch. Also, I made the mistake of starting the 2nd Chart before reading the original instructions, so I had to undo that row and take care of it.

It was probably not smart for me to work on this charted lace design while I'm sick and weak.

ANYWAY....I did actually finish it. And it looks lovely!

I tried on my hat today, and just love it! This hat is MINE now. It is NOT going into the gift pile. :D

It's lovely! Good job  You can wear it around the house if it helps you to feel cosy while you're sick :crown: I like to put my CAL blanket on my lap to help me settle, it's so soft!
