Cable Baby Sack KAL

Postby Jen » Mon Aug 13, 2012 9:43 am

We're knitting the new Cable Baby Sack pattern and would love for you to join us!

The pattern calls for Waverly for Bernat yarn, but you can use whatever you want! What yarn are you using? Show it off!

This project is SO interesting to make!
So many beautiful cables, and the moss stitch is fun as well.
I feel like a genius when I finish each row. :ugeek:

Make sure that you get some stitch markers for your project, because it makes following the pattern a lot easier! :)

I am using Bernat Waverly Baby in the color Honeydew Green.

Was wondering if someone could help with suggestions to modify the pattern somewhat so that the bottom could be secured closed, but not stitched close, to make it easier to get the baby in and out of the sac.
For example, if I chose to add a zipper at the bottom, would I just begin with the 118 stitch count? Would it be easier to sew a zipper to a few rows of stockinette or is it possible to sew it to the moss stitch. I guess another option would be to make a row of eyelets and thread through some cording for a drawstring though it would throw off the pattern of the cables?

I'm not a designer, so I can't tell you the best way to do this. But, I will mention that if you follow the pattern exactly, it is started at the bottom, and the bottom is left open until the end. So, you could pick up stitches at the bottom, and go the other way to add your own design changes there.

I've got a good start on my cable baby sack. This design is different on every row, so it requires some concentration and patience. But, it is VERY satisfying to see it come together!

I've ordered "Simply White" and it hasn't arrived yet.

I'm going to also change the way the cable is done. Instead of having one on top the whole way, I'm going to "braid" it so that it's over and under like Aran sweaters.

Now, I'm waiting for the yarn. :) :knit:

:knit: I love the Honeydew Green color. Your work so far is looking good. :cooldude: I love seeing the work in progress. I wanted to start mine last night but don't have the 24" size 8 and I have learned the right size makes it alot easier to do. Now, I have to run get those. I can't wait to start.

I'm so proud of you for diving into this intermediate design! Now, you're gonna learn cables!
