Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Hi my name is Kaveri. I loved this idea as soon as I saw it. I probably will do one every year!! I started my scarf Feb 1st, I live in Toronto so I followed the colour scheme recommended. Our temperatures change so drastically throughout the day I am trying to stick to the temperature at the same time each morning and with our high wind chill factors I also go with the "feels like temperature". Which will also work in the warmer months with our humidity levels. February turned out to be mainly -6C so lots of deep purple with 3 or 4 scattered days in the aqua/teal. Quite pretty. Hopefully March will bring warmer temps or I will have to buy more yarn. I'm sewing in the ends as I go to keep it tidy and less work at the end. I am doing seed stitch with garther stitch for the breaks between months. I also made it much wider as I will likely turn it into a hooded scarf.

My friend lives in Germany so she is knitting it along with me. Not sure if she is using Germany or Toronto weather!!!

Hi! :hellogoodbye: I'm looking forward to doing this project - I've enjoyed the Mystery CAL/KAL's in the past, and can't wait for another one, because it's so fun to see what we get to work on each week. This one should be fun, too, because it's a daily dose! I like the suggestions that some of you have about doing one stripe for high temp, and one for low, as our temps vary so much. I am in Witter Springs, in Northern California. Our temps range from low 20s occasionally in the winter, to Low 100's in the summer, with everything in between. This year has been particularly strange, as we've had big swings in our temps. I haven't decided whether to do a scarf or a blanket, and I am partial to the idea of a ripple afghan for a change. I want to do both the KAL and the CAL - we have property in Battle Mountain, NV that we are hoping to move to this summer, so I may do one for that place, as it will be fun to see the differences. I think I may use stash yarn, as I have sooooo much of it, and lots of acrylics from projects that I never started. I think I will need to add another color for over 100 for both locations, maybe will add yellow in there somewhere. :knit:

Hi! My name is TerriSue. This is my first KAL. I started March 1st. I live in the D/FW area of Texas. I'll be using Vickie Howell's Sheep(ish) yarn matched up as well as I could to the Bernat Satin. I am going to add yellow as our temps in the summer get pretty high and I don't want unrelenting red. I haven't worked outside the home since I was 2 months married, 32 years ago. Sometimes it has been a real struggle, but it is what my husband and I both wanted. We have two adult children, and two grandchildren, one girl 6 and one boy 19 mo. I watch my grandson at least once a week while mommy and daddy work, just as I used to watch my granddaughter before she started school. I had one year that I watched both of them. I am in a wheelchair and rarely get out of the house. We live in a wheelchair accessable home and I make all of our meals from scratch, even our breakfast cereals! We don't have excess money for eating out. I do most of our shopping online. We have a wonderful green grocer delivery company called Greenling that also carries dairy and eggs. I order from them once a week. Then I use a great discount dry grocer, Vitacost for most everything else. If I find myself in need of something my husband picks it up on his way home from work. My social outlet is church once a week. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as we knit/crochet our scarves, shawls, afghans, blankets, or what have you's this year.

I'm Margie from Cape Cod. I've been knitting since I was nine. Crocheting since 16. Designing and creating my own sweaters for 2 years. I have completed the last two KAL/CALs. I thought this was a great idea and have been having a great time. I'm using the registered high temp for my zip code on weather.com. I chose the pattern as written with colors stated but am using a smaller needle. 3.75mm which gives 8 rows to the inch. Read on the forum that length seemed to be a concern. (I've done the Dr. Who scarf, it was in excess of 8 feet.) I am married with two adult children. They have learned through the years that if I'm counting, or holding a tape measure, don't talk to me.

Hello, I just stumbled upon the blog post about the temperature scarf and I love the idea. I am late in joining but I am going to catch up. I am going to use http://www.almanac.com to find out what the temp was starting Feb 1. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska so this will be interesting. I haven't decided on colors yet but I'm working on that now.
