Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

My name is Hilary, I am also new to the forum as well as this being my first CAL. I learned how to crochet and knit as a kid, but didn't practice them for years. When I had a bout of depression where I couldn't get out of a chair, I re-taught myself how to crochet. :) I'm pretty excited about this CAL, I haven't started actually making it. I just got January's temperatures and am figuring out the yarn and colours now. :hrmm:

My name is Susan. I am new to the forum and joined when I saw the project on Ravelry. I am in North TX and so far we have been having a pretty warm January - lots of 60's and some 70's! I am about halfway through Jan. and although I do like the way my scarf is looking, I am obsessing a little too much about all of the loose ends and my edges not looking perfect. :ire: I don't think it's possible to hide everything. I think I need to lighten up and relax about the little details! Will try to post a picture soon.

I got all the way through January and couldn't tolerate the sloppiness of the one edge, so I ripped it all out and re-knit it in the round. Of course, then I started obsessing over my temperature ranges and re-worked all of those, so I had to rip the whole thing out *again*!

Thanks for your response! I am debating on the ripping out too! Sure wish there was some way to knit flat with edges that don't look like crap;O((((((

You could always add a crochet edging all around when your project is finished. This really dresses up wonky edges.

Welcome! I've gone through depression myself, and I know what you mean about not getting out of a chair. Glad you found a way out with yarn!

Hi, I'm Linda and live in Maine. I love doing the KALs. This one is interesting to me because of its flexibility. I'm using Bernat Satin with eight colors for temperature and white for when it snows. Different stitches for Sunny, Stormy and Cloudy/Foggy days. In my spare time I quilt, embroider, smock and knit when I am not reading or walking. My boys are all adults now and I have no grandchildren. My little girl is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Hi everyone! My name is Kathi and I live in Kansas. Since we have a wide range of temperatures in the Midwest, I have chosen a muted rainbow pallet of Caron simply soft. I have participated in several KAL's over the last several years and am thrilled to start this project. I am going to start with January 1st and do all of 2013.
