Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Hi, I'm momawake from Medina, OH. I just discovered this project this morning. I decided to use the average temperature (highs and lows) for each month based on the NOAA color system, so I think I'm going to end up with a scarf in the lavender to green section of a color wheel. That means I may have to buy a new coat. ;-)

My name Is Laura and I live in northern California. I think the temperature scarf will be fun! I love to knit, and I have crocheted a lot in my past but not as much anymore. I find knitting to be easier on my wrists. I also sew, and work as a volunteer with the county's literacy coalition. Looking forward to getting started- I have to go explore the forum a bit to find out how to use it. :knit:

I'm Trisha, and I live in the suburbs just west of Houston, Texas. I'm using the recommended Bernat Satin colors, but I've shifted my colors upwards and have divided up the hotter temperatures so that I don't have eight feet of red in the middle of my scarf. Right now, this is my plan:

Crimson 95° +
Goldenrod 90° - 94°
Foliage 85° - 89°
Soft Fern 80° - 84°
Lagoon 70° - 79°
Aqua 60° - 69°
Teal 50° - 59°
Sultana below 49°

If we actually have any hard freezes, I may have to consider adding a color on the bottom end of my scale, but so far this month we haven't gotten lower than the mid-40's (I'm looking only at our high temperatures).

I'm hoping Bernat still does a mystery CAL afghan this year, too. I really enjoyed it last year!

Hi, I'm Pat and live in Ottawa, Ontario. I've been knitting since I was a teenager. In fact, I have an online knitting business. Last year I completed my first mystery afghan KAL. I'm using the Bernat Satin colours but have added a couple more as our temperatures go quite a bit lower. I'll be using the high temperatures of the day and will be starting with January 1st. I think I will be adding different stitches for the snow, rain, etc. just to make it a little more interesting.

I'm Kari from Collinsville, VA. I am using the same colors described on the blog with the addition of banana. Our temps can get pretty high, so I wanted to add a yellow into the mix to break up some of the summer monotony!

Hi, I'm am super excited about this project, but I need to figure out how to divide my temperature ranges. I live in Mililani, HI on the island of O'ahu. So, our average highs are in the 80's and our average lows are 60's. I could do colors for rain, trade-winds, Kona winds, thunder, and lightning. Decisions, decisions! :knit:

Katipilrgrl - Hawaii would be a difficult place to do a temperature scarf. Like your ideas of incorporating colors for rain, etc.

I'm thinking maybe you could break it down into much smaller intervals - maybe only two or three degrees per color?
