Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Hi everyone!

I'm still fairly new to the craft of crochet, and this is my first CAL, which I am very excited about! I have already started my scarf and have caught up to the current day. I am basing it on the average temperatures of where I am from and currently reside, Cranbrook, British Columbia. I look forward to crocheting along with everyone and seeing the finished project!

Hi ya'll! I am Donna from NE Alabama, I am a paramedic with two grown children. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 9. I went several long years before I decided to pick it up again last year with the Mystery CAL ( I actually made 3!).

I am going to crochet the scarf but since our temps pretty much stay around the same (for the most part) changing only seasonally, I am going to base mine on the season instead.
Winter = different shades of blues and greys
spring= light pastel colors ( I haven't decided yet)
Summer= bright "summery "colors
Fall= browns oranges and reds

I am going to use 3 degree increments also using the high for the day . I can't wait to get started :D

I would love to knit the temperature scarf.
Are there printable instructions?

My name is Candace and I live in Maryland. We get a good range of weather here. I like the idea of a temperature scarf, but I don't want a Doctor's scarf (I'm only 5'2''). I'm thinking about doing squares. One for each month. The center color will be the average low temperature and the outside color will be the average high temperature for the month. Still working on the colors. I'm resisting the urge to buy more yarn (so tempting). I recently bought 12 different skeins for a project and won't need the entire skein so I'm thinking about using those colors. But the urge to buy is telling me I need some colors outside what I have. I'll have to check my stash. Will update with the colors when I decide.

:hellogoodbye: Thought I'd give an update on my final project. I have decided to focus on NY which is where I am now. I figured this will be so long any way could stop at 6 months and start another one and/or depending on when could start a new one when we hit the road...possibilities are endless. So for now have my plan doing a wrap like Shandeh using the chevron stitch and charting the high temps. Have 3 days done so far and loving this project. :inlove: Hope to post pictures at some point. Happy knitting /crocheting everyone. :hellogoodbye:

I was toying with the idea of joining this KAL/CAL, but when I saw the Doctor Who reference on the blog entry, that sealed the deal! I'm in! By the way, I see nothing wrong with the Fourth Doctor's scarf! :D

I'm trying to decide if I should use the climate of NYC, my favorite place in the world, or the climate of South Carolina, the place I live. Actually, the climates of both places are amazingly similar, but NYC has more days of cooler weather and SC has more days of warmer (HOT) weather.

Hi everyone!
I'm xie, and I'll be knitting my temperature scarf based on the mean temperature from Weather Underground for Richmond, VA (near the Richmond Airport).

I've set up a Google Doc Spreadsheet to track the High/Low and mean temperatures, as well as weather conditions. Not sure if I will be incorporating those in anyway, but I really like tracking stuff. I think the scarf is an awesome way for displaying data. (yay, nerd!)

I plan to knit one row per day (mean temp), in linen stitch; going to backtrack and start it with January 1. Still trying to figure out the color range/distribution for my scarf, since I want to get a good variety. ;)
Then just need to order the yarn and start knitting! :D

Hey there! I'm Vickie, your friendly neighborhood Bernat Spokesperson. I LOVE the idea of this project, and because it won't take a lot of daily time to keep up -- I think I'm going to give it a try! Big shocker, I'll be using Sheep(ish) by Vickie Howell for my scarf. Can't wait to see everyone's WIPs!

I am most definitely participating! I am going to go from feb 1 to feb 1 for the temps where I live here in Connecticut. I am going to do similar colors from the blog post but i'm going to change it up a little. I am going to do 2 rows for actual temperature and 2 rows for the feels like temperature with only two rows in between months (which will be black so it definitely stands out). and... I will probably make two scarves because i can't decide whether i want to knit or crochet!!!
