Share your scarf story and photos here!

I took my scarf/wrap with me to my local knit group get-together today, and several of the ladies there were interested in our project. :)

THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED.

To discuss and share photos of any scarf progress you make during the month of March (even if it's days from an earlier month), post in our March discussion thread!

As you know, I posted this in the colour thread. But I'll post it here too for anyone who didn't see, and to get this thread rolling.

I was just too excited about this project, I couldn't help but go back to Jan 1st and crochet up until now. I already happened to have 7 colours in the same satin yarn, so I was pretty much good to go! I just picked up a couple other colours for the far ends of my temperature spectrum, thinking I won't need them for a while. But when I woke up this morning, it felt like -18, so I need to get my dark purple sparkle row on the scarf today.

But here it is up to yesterday:

Sky blanket current to January 20, 2013. Each row represents 4 days of the sky at midday. Using stash yarns to start.

This is the beginning of my temperature scarf. I am breaking rules. Instead of trying to hide the yarn ends, I am tying them together and making a twisted "fringe" within the scarf. This represents January 1-19. I also am not doing rows by color. I did not want all the yarn changes to be on the sides, so I am using varied amounts of each color and it ends where it ends. I am using one length per day and am tying them together even if the yarn color does not change. That way, each fringe will represent a day. It will be long, but not nearly as long as following the directions given. I am really having fun with it and am a little sad that I am caught up because now I will have to do one day at a time. I tried to pretty much match colors from weather maps.

I thought that it would be nice to have a row for the daily high and a row for the daily low, that way you wouldn't have huge blocks of one color at a time. Of course that would make a really long scarf, which prefer.

Mara, I'm doing lows and highs on my project too! :)
(I've cast on 70 stitches, to make a wrap, and leaving the yarn ends as fringe.)
I'm also adding a section for rain, snow, or lightning - as it happens.

I have finished through January 5th now, and I just love how soft and cozy my wrap is becoming, while using Bernat Denimstyle yarn.

I started my project today at lunch!
I've decided to start from Jan 1, so I looked up the temperatures for the last 3 weeks. I have some catching up to do!

I've decided to do a mitred square blanket, so every day I will knit a 3" square. I did a bunch of math & I'll end up with a blanket approximately 57" square when all is said & done.

Here is my work so far - thank goodness for the panorama photo option on the iPhone!

I am doing last year's temps and have January done. I love how patterns have started forming with the colors, its neat how nature does that! Once February starts I will to the next part, but for now I'm going to work on my other projects.
