Discussion and Photos of our Works in Progress (Mar. & Apr.)

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Here is what I have done on my afghan for January and February 2012 in Williamsburg VA. I just love it and it is warm too. It is on the rug is from the dance school where I seem to have a following with this project. When I don't bring it, everyone asks where it is. Now I need a second bag. One for the yarn; another for the blanket.

Nankaeia, I really like your calendar afghan. How big are the squares for your afghan (squares in the large square and the square for the month)?

When I started crocheting again a few years ago I had the same problem. It totally frustrated me. I discovered, especially with a dc, that I crocheted an extra stitch at the end by picking up an extra chain from the beginning of the prior row. I only broke myself of this by meticulously counting each stitch for several rows until it was natural.

Your colours are lovely, and the extra stitches don't show. Good luck and have fun!

The little squares for each day are 3 inches. Each month is 22 inches by 16 inches not including black border. I have finished March but going to post photo at end of month (year is 2012) and the total length is 6 feet 8 inches. Not sure how long it will be-- pattern template states around 7 feet. Perfect for my bed. My husband suggested last night that I make a key row between row of months (Apr-June) with a row of black on each side. When I finish all the months I plan to stitch the month name above each month with the year somewhere on it.

After I finished Feb, I thought that I really should be doing a more significant year like wedding year or daughter's birth year. Maybe another afghan?

Hi my name is Di and I have completed Jan. and Feb. of my scarf. I wanted to send the picture so everyone on the forum could see it. My husband and I have tried but I don't think we have been successful. I really enjoy seeing all the other pictures posted. I sent my picture to Walgreens so I could share, and then copy and paste. Maybe someone could give me a little help. HAPPY KNITTING!!!!!

Check out Shandeh's post titled "POSTING PHOTOS in our forum". It should answer your questions.

Here is February. Still no purple which is my coldest color. I think it will have to wait until Nov or Dec. Liking the scarf quite well.

This is the Feb section of the scarf. We have had some really cold days here at the end of Feb for Mississippi, but still no purple which is 32 degrees (avg temp) or below. I think if I am going to get purple it will have to wait until Nov or Dec. I have been weaving in the ends. I was concerned it would make that side of the scarf noticeably thicker, but I don't think it has.
