Hello From England

Hi Everyone. I'm excited to be joining the KAL, especially as my yarn arrived yesterday!! I've chosen my colours from the Simplicity range, and they look very inviting. I wonder if there will be a Ravelry group for this KAL

Welcome from across the pond! :hellogoodbye:

I sometimes wish I lived in England. I watch so many of your television programs on Netflix, including Midsomer Murders, A Touch of Frost, and some interesting BBC series. I also love browsing through the UK knitting magazines I find at my local book store.

I've done other KAL on Ravelry, but nothing of this magnitude! I have a throw that's been 80% finished for almost a year - I hope that with encouragement, I will finish this project in good time. Yes, I do live in West Sussex right on the south coast. What a small world though, my MIL lives in Crawley!

Are you watching the new series of 'Downton Abbey'? I really enjoyed it. We also had a BBC adaptation of 'Great Expectations' that's worth looking out for. I sometimes wish I had access to the variety of yarn that you do in the US - thank goodness for international shipping, eh?

Lee and Lauren live in Maidenbower (I live in Spain) whenever I go for a visit we have to go to Brighton and always go on the pier.. ;)

I couldn't order the yarn from Bernat 'cos they don't deliver here, I've had an email from the company I ordered from saying delivery will be 6-8 weeks so I'm really fed up, I've emailed them again hoping it might be a mistake...we'll see :tears:

Oh dear! I'm sorry that happened. Keep us informed. If all else fails, I hope you can find a good yarn to use as a substitute. I would say that any aran weight yarn would work well.

Hi Julie! I was looking at your colours last night on ravelry, well when I say looking at I really mean admiring! How long did your yarn take to arrive? I have just ordered today so fingers crossed it will be here in good time.
After much deliberation I went for Colonial Beige as the MC, Sundrift, Gypsy Gold and Willow for BCD and Black for E.
Am very excited to be starting this, have never done a KAL before...just need to finish a few projects before mid-Feb!

I wonder if there are many UK knitters joining in? Very quiet on ravelry at the moment (unless I'm looking in the wrong place??!)

Hi Lisa. The yarn arrived extremely quickly - I ordered it on Saturday morning and it was here by the following Tuesday - 7 working days in all. I was very impressed! I'm pleased that Bernat do international shipping as it's so hard to find worsted weight yarn in the UK in such a wide variety of colours, I'm sure you will agree. I can't see a Ravelry group for this either - send me a friend request and we can see each other's projects as they progress.
