Star Blanket

I consider myself an intermediate crocheter(?) I have made lots of baby blankets hats, and adult afghans. I have gotten stuck on the same pattern and thought I would try the Star Blanket that Bernat has the pattern for free. My problem is: 1st rnd. .....rnd: Join with "sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch.; 2nd Sl st in next ch 3 sp." Ch 3 (2 dc. ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as last sl st. (3dc Ch 2 3 dc in next ch 3 sp) 4 times. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Why the second sl st?
Because of this I can not get the correct increase and "valley" going.

I'm still learning crochet myself, so I'm not the right person to help with this one.
Anyone else able to help with this?

you may have already figured it out, but if not I'll try to help:
the reason for the second slip stitch is to start the ch 3 in a hole. the other sl st was just to get you there, the 2nd stitch goes in the space so that the chain three looks likes a double crochet. sl st are just to move the work to where we want it to go.

I hope that helps. It really is hard to explain in words. I should do a you tube video!! but seriously, ask for more clarification if you need to.

I just uploaded a video of me making the first 2 1/2 rounds of the star blanket. I actually did three rounds and fastened off but I didn't realize that I could only tape for ten minutes so the last part wasn't taped. Now I have a little star-shaped coaster! My user name is ajweenk.
