Crochet: Changing colors? Knots?

Hi, what kind of knots would you recommend to use when changing colors?
Any other knots good for crocheting?

I am going to take part in CAL 2012 and trying to brush up my skills now.

Bernat recommends that you just work in the ends of both yarns as you change colors. No need to weave in ends later!

I am from Moscow, Russia, last year I was visiting my friends' family, who live in Seattle, USA. I didn't see my friend for a long-long time and decided to make this afghan. as a gift for their country house. So I used the 2010 CAL design, that I found quite by chance. The blanket traveled from Moscow almost all the way back to Canada

Not really, because it would make that row of knitting too thick. It's best to weave in the ends when you finish each square in knitting.
