I need help!!..I have been trying to crochet Bernat's Beautiful Blanket and it is just not working for me. For one thing it is supposed to be only 30 inches wide and mine is much wider. The weird thing is I HAVE MADE THIS blanket about 4 times before without a problem. I am not using he original print off and have re-printed from the Bernat website so I dont know if I it is me or not???? HELP!! Is the 162 chains at the beginning too many??

GAUGE: 18½ sc and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm]. **

INSTRUCTIONS
Ch 162. **
1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 2 dc in one ch). Miss next 3 ch. (4 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next ch -Cluster made. *Ch 1. Miss next 3 ch. (1 dc. Ch 1. 1 dc) in next ch – V-st made. Miss next 3 ch. Cluster in next ch. Rep from * to last 4 ch. Ch 1. Miss next 3 ch. 2 dc in last ch.
2nd row: Ch 3. 1 dc in first dc. *Cluster in ch-2 sp of next Cluster. Ch 1. V-st in next V-st. Rep from * to last Cluster. Cluster in ch-2 sp of next Cluster. Ch 1. Miss next dc. 2 dc in last dc.
Rep last row for pat until work from beg measures 29½ ins [75 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Fasten off.

With RS of work facing, join yarn with sl st to first ch of foundation ch. Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as sl st (counts as 2 dc). Miss next 3 ch. Cluster in next ch. *Ch 1. Miss next 3 ch. V-st in next ch. It could be a misprint in the new copy you got off the website. Without trying to make that first row myself...it would be difficult to know if 162 stitches is correct. You are using the same kind of yarn & the same size hook?? Let me check into it further.

knitwit59..I just tried doing the first row & you are right...I got to 30" at 124 ch...the last 38 would make it too big. So, if you are still using Bernat Baby & a size G Hook...try ch 124 instead of 162. Measure & it should be 30". Let me know how this works for you please.

Yes I am and have tried many times. I just wish I could find the first copy I printed!! I think it should be a chain of 129 or 132 not sure. Thanks for your help.

The most I would try would be 129...124 worked for me...but it depends on how tightly you crochet. Good luck & you are quite welcome!!
