:D my yarn for the CAL arrived today I love opening a big box of yarn. I am so happy with the colors and I really love the look and feel of the yarn. Using stash yarn for KAL I did my gauge swatch for both interesting how I am spot on with the crochet swatch, knitting swatch not so much. I am a very loose knitter so I always have to go down a needle size or two. Will a 24"circular needle be too short? I can't wait to get started come on Feb 15th :knit:

It will work for now, but you might want to purchase a longer circular when it's time to do our border. It's several weeks away, so you have plenty of time. ;)

I am sneaking in here to let you know that I am so impressed that y'all can knit and crochet. Even more so that you can make both blankets. My grandma started teaching to crochet when I was 8. It didn't last long....

I have been crocheting for nearly 50 years. However, I've only been knitting for less than 2 years. I still am much more comfortable with crocheting, but I enjoy the challenge of learning new stitches in both.
Life is an adventure, just waiting to be experienced!

This is my first KAL/CAL and I decided to do both. I selected to sets of colors and have them seperated into tote bags with the appropiate needles & hooks in the bags. Now if the 15th would just get here!!!! I'm very excited about this project and can't wait to start. I crochet much faster than I knit so my plan is that each week I do the knit instructions first. At least that is the plan at the moment.

Well it is Saturday morning and since Wednesday I have been able to get almost all of the crochet squares done, but only one knitted done and one started. I thought I would spend one evening knitting, then one crocheting, knit, crochet. . . :stop:

Looks like it should be more like knit, knit, knit, crochet, knit, knit, knit, crochet . . .
But wait - that's more than a week.

Seems like I will be spending more than one week on clue one.

BTW - I am jealous of all the people who have completed both clue ones already! :bravo:

Anyone making two?

Postby collettakay » Thu Feb 23, 2012 2:37 pm

Is anyone doing the CAL in two colorways at the same time?

I think I might and then give one away on my blog. I have plenty of stash for the second.

Anyone else?
