I am just curious how much different the CAL and KAL patterns are...are they adaptations of the same look? I love to knit AND crochet and would consider doing one of each if they were entirely different looks. Thanks! :knit:

First Timer!

Postby prettyprl » Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:47 am

So, I got my yarn over the weekend. I had bought onlinse, so I was concerned the colors would be different than what my computer screen showed. But, alas, they colors are perfect! :cloud9: I am sooo excited to start this KAL. It is my first even though I am an experienced knitter. I am hoping to refresh my memory on some knitting techniques I haven't used in awhile and (hopefully) learn something new as well. I am hiding :scared: from the baby blanket that I have to finish in a month. Not quite sure how that's going to work out, but I need a break from the mundane to so something for MYSELF for a change. So, Happy Knitting to all!

The two blankets are completely different. They're both worked in motifs, but the results look nothing alike. The crochet pattern can be considered more "feminine," but the knit blanket is gender-neutral.

I have my yarn! Came in on Friday and I "squished" it last night during half-time of the Super Bowl! My daughter is doing the crochet along and I'm doing the knit along. We are excited to get started! :knit:

That's great that you and your daughter are doing it together! My mom crochets and she was going to do the CAL while I am doing the KAL. She then decided she wasn't going to do it... Oh well. I am with you on the excitement! Only 9 more days :!:

What does it mean you "squished" your yarn?

I'm a KAL newbie too! I received my yarn last week, and made my gauge swatch during the super bowl!
