I am having fun with my monster. It is the first time I have made a knitted toy.

Thanks! I'm on the mend. Still weak, but getting there. I made a little more progress on my monster's head. I'm just now at the point where I divide for the arms.

It is a lot of fun to knit toys. The first toys I ever made were the "Buddy Toys" on the Bernat Blog. I gave them to a battered children's shelter in my area, and they really loved them! I used Bernat Baby Stretchto make them, and they were so soft! :inlove: I really should make another one of those, to keep for myself. ;)

Thanks! I'm glad to get better too. I was bored to death just sleeping all day long.

so happy to see you are back Shandeh!! I don't know what you were talking about when you said that your little monster has a funny head. It looks pretty good to me! I am on the arms now, but there is already a big hole under the armpit that I'll have to sew up.
I took a break from my little monster today and I am almost finished a pair of slippers (thanks mitten maker for reminding me about that easy pattern!) for my daughter's boyfriend who has his twentieth birthday on Friday.

I love knitting! but I will be doing the CAL this time.

Hi zhanie! I posted some shots of my new flowered slippers today. It was funny, because when I was knitting the flowers this morning, I thought about flowers are usually crocheted, not knitted. I found the pattern in "Oh So Easy Knits" by Goose Berry Patch (Leisure Arts) That is SUCH a good little book! :inlove: Good thing someone invented knitting flowers for us crochet-impaired. :idonno: Have fun with your slippers--they are such a quick easy knit! I made a bunch of them for Christmas gifts this past holiday. :knit:
PS Please share pics of your monster when he's completed! :)

Shandeh, that looks amazing! I will pick up my monster again tomorrow. I just have to do one long arm and the heart, and then to buy googly eyes.
Mitten maker, i am going to look for the picture you posted of your flowers :)

Hi zhanie! I can't wait to see your monster! Hope your daughter's BF likes his slippers! I made pair for my nephew, his wife and my great-niece and nephew for Christmas.

Thanks! I'm a tight knitter, so my stitches are usually very even. But, if I'm not careful, I will knit so tight that it really hurts my wrist. So, I've been learning to let the yarn flow a little better. Allows me to knit as long as I want when I do that.

You should try knitting while you wait for the KAL/CAL to start! You'll find lots of beginner knitting videos available online now. It's how I learned! I sat myself down at my computer with some bright red yarn, and size 10 needles, and watched the same knitting video over, and over, and over!

I do the same thing whenever I need to learn a new stitch or technique. Thank goodness for free knitting videos. :D

By the way, the yarn I'm using for the monster is Bernat Satin in Lavender.

karenarp, Shandeh has a good point, try a dishcloth or another easy project before the kal/cal! Mittenmaker, I love your flowers! I am going to make my whole family slippers next, inbetween the CAL and finishing my monster I mean:)
