Hello Everyone,

I have been knitting since my aunt taught me when I was 7 years old. I made mittens and scarves as a child. Now I love to make baby clothes, hats, scarves, fingerless gloves. Aside from learning the basics as a child I am self taught and looking forward to learning the correct way to do many things and to be able to put the right name to various techniques.

I am from Massachusetts, where we have only had 7 inches of snow this winter. We have had winters where we have had over 90 inches at this point in the year. I do miss the snow because it is what I am used to seeing this time of the year. G;loval warming?

I have been crocheting for about 40 years. My mother-in-law taught me. I found that many sweater and hat patterns were calling for an edging of crochet and I felt like I was by passing many nice items by because I didn't crochet. Now I can do both. I find crochet much faster than knitting but I think knitting is more finished looking

I have been quilting for the past 25 years and it has filled up a great deal of my time. I have made many friends through quilting and we have done a lot of travel to many of the biggest quilt shows in the country. It is a way of life for many of us.

I am married with 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Many of the things I make end up family gifts. I don't have anyone else in my family involved in crafting. Oh that would be so nice.

This is my first KAL and I am looking forward to getting started and enjoying your friendships along the way.
Happy stitching to you all. Enjoy.

Hi! I'm Marie. I live in West Fenwick Island, Delaware. I have been knitting for 40+ years, but only crocheting for less than 3 years. And the crocheting is very, very basic. I like to knit prayer shawls for my church, hats for the homeless (also a church project) and baby blankets. Knitting is my favorite indoor activity, followed by watching hockey on television, but I am an active, avid kayaker. I paddle from April to October in the local bays and rivers. I just love it. Seeing life from the waterline really puts things in perspective.

Do you knit and/or crochet?
I do both.

How long have you been knitting and/or crocheting?
I learned to knit when I was 10 years old and have been knitting on and off for the last 15 years. I taught myself to crochet in the early spring of 2007 when I was on bedrest trying to prevent the miscarriage of my twins. After I lost my twins I didn't crochet again at all until the last CAL in 2010. That CAL brought reminded me just how much I love working with yarn and I've been knitting and crocheting as much as I can since then.

Where are you from?
I've been living in South Carolina for the last 5 years and expect to be here for many more years.

What are your favorite things to make?
My kids love when I make them blankets. I've been making myself a lot of scarves recently. My husband keeps asking for more really soft, squishy socks. I don't really have a favorite thing to make.

What other hobbies do you have?
I love to read. I also enjoy attempting to garden, playing computer and console games, and doing math for the fun of it. I'm currently in the process of talking our local college's math department into allowing me to complete a bachelors in pure mathematics from home since I have 3 young children, one of them not old enough to do school and the other two currently homeschooled, and couldn't manage to attend day time classes without winning the lottery.

Hi Everybody!!!
I'm so excited to get started on the CAL. :P
I waited until the last minute to pick my colors and had to rely on the stock available at my local craft store, but I really like what I chose. It was probably good that I didn't have all the beautiful colors to choose from because it would have been an impossible task for me.

I have been crocheting for about 1 1/2 years. I taught myself with library books and the internet.

I live in Miami FL and so far I've made a baby blanket, dishcloths, scarves, but my favorite is children hats.( a Strawberry, a Kitty, and a little Daisey to name a few.

My other hobbies are gardening, water sports, riding my bike, & volunteering.

I hope to make the most of this experience and end up with a beautiful Afgan.
Talk to you soon!!

I wish I could see a photo of that tartan blanket!

I know this post was a long time ago, but I finally got a few pictures of the blanket form my Dad. :) The quality of the photo is not great, but you get the idea. :geek:
