Shandeh,
I love your baby afghan. I wonder how it would work in Bernat Baby Coordinates and a smaller hook size--I have LOTS of bits and pieces of every color--love that yarn!!! I may try that when I finish the other three already in progress with the CAL to be the fourth--retirement is GREAT--lots of time for the best things in life!!!!

It would make a smaller blanket, since it's not chunky. You'd need to use the hook size that is recommended for that yarn. And you'd have to guess at what size your squares would be.

Your other option would be to double strand your Baby Coordinates yarn, and see if it works to the same gauge as the Bernat Softee Chunky. If it does, your blanket will be the same size as the original pattern.

Have fun with it! :D

Thanks--I like the double strand idea and think that will be the next project.

For those who did the previous CAL, I was wondering about how much time you had to devote to it each day/week in order to keep up with the clues? I'd like to stay on track and not get too far behind during the process, but just wondering if I will still have time for some other projects as well.

Also, I know we start on Feb. 15 (only 2 more days, yeah!), but do we know how long it will go, as in how many weeks? Maybe that info is out there, but I can't seem to locate it just now. Thanks for any details!

I am not a super fast crocheter and I had time to do two CALs and other projects as well. The only week I had trouble was the week of the mitred squares and it took me forever to get those to work. I finally resorted to increasing instead of decreasing to get it to look right. I managed to catch up with squares for both during the following week. I also spent time blocking as we went along. I do not plan to block this time. I don't think you will have any problems. Only two more days to wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the info! I am not quite as concerned now. I did see on another thread that we will have 15 weeks, so that does seem like sufficient time to keep up. I can't believe you did 2 CALs! That's awesome!

Last summer I visited my mom in L.A. and she had this afghan on the guest bed. I asked her right away where she got the pattern and she told me about the Bernat Mystery Afghan. I kept bugging her for the pattern, but she could never find it. So, THANK YOU, thank you, thank you for re-posting this! :notworthy:

Needless to say, she talked me into joining this year's Mystery Crochet. I totally stoked! Thank you again - I appreciate your work that you put into this forum! :bravo:

If you decide to make last years CAL, use the Softee Chunky. I couldn't buy it in the store by me and made the CAL with Lion Jiffy, which is a chunky yarn. It came out big enough to fit a queen sized bed!! Use the recommended yarn!

:bravo: I just wanted to say thank you for posting this past mystery blanket! I had seen it elsewhere when people had showed theirs off and it's so pretty...it's so nice of Bernat to provide this for free! I am considering making it for a Christmas gift so thank you once again.
