Crochet-Along Clue 1

The directions for motif #1 say it should measure about 4 1/2 ", but the blocking template is 7". Am I missing something?

My blocking template came out big like someone else mentioned. If I can't figure out how to correct, I will block to the measurments indicated.

That is strange. I wonder if some printers are misinterpreting the image?

I ordered the gorgeous Town & Country pallette. Obviously, the Stone Brown is the MC, but do we assign our own choices for A, B, C & D? Will it matter in the final product?

Ok so now I am done with this weeks clue. What do I do for the next 6 days???? Should I block the 12 squares that I have completed???

So I have 6 squares made and they are measuring about 4 1/4 inches. With blocking it should be the 4 1/2 inches perfectly! I am really digging the color choices I made! The bitter rose looks sooo much better once it is actually worked with and it was beautiful to begin with! My little princess is going to love coming home from the hospital wrapped up in this! I just did the math and the 15 weeks this project is suppose to take I will only have 7 weeks of my pregnancy left when we are all done! It is completely perfect timing! I am SO EXCITED!!!!

I am fairly new to crochet. This may be a stupid question, but what does blocking mean? I can follow the pattern and make the block but is there something to do to it after that?

All questions are important. Never be afraid to ask. We want you to feel at ease when working on your blanket.

Blocking is a way to make your crocheted or knitted pieces lay flat and look even. It makes it easier to join your pieces together when it's time to put the blanket together.

Some people block everything they knit or crochet.

I only block work that is for a garment. I usually don't block blanket pieces. But, that's just me.

Bernat has provided a blocking template for us to use if we want to block our pieces.

To block your work, just lay it out on the template, pin it in place, get it damp, and let it airdry flat. When it's completely dry, unpin it, and it should lay nice and flat.

Just printed out the clue and will get started later. Really enjoyed doing the last one and used the pattern again for gifts, can't wait to see what the final product will be.

great fun! Just finished my first square in Tibetan red. Notice that on the instructions there is no "turning" instruction - am I right to just go by what is actually written? Usually there is a turning chain - but is this different for squares?
