It's best to follow the pattern. The afghan is square motifs, so the design is largely made up by where the colors change. Don't worry, it's not as difficult as it may seem :)

At the end of the last row of the first color, cut the tail off around 12". Then just start knitting with the next shade, but make sure that also has a long tail for seaming later on. There's a video linked in the first post on this thread to give you a hand.

OK i will give it a go.. im not the one to balk at something different..well i am but..lol Ok next question.. in the vid that u provided concerning the color change.. i got most of it but when they put on the new color.. the new color tail was just sitting there,, they didnt knot it or anything...why didnt they knot it ??? If u dont knot it.. it all comes apart ??? Told ya i was a newbie..lol

This is a great way to learn :) When you have the two tails, loosely tie them together so that they don't slide out. Pull a little on where you changed if you feel like the stitches are getting loose. When you seam the blanket you'll be weaving those ends, and they'll become secured.

I am being a rebel and not using the suggested yarn... could not justify buying all of the yarn for a project when I was able to find most of what I needed in my stash! I found that i had some Bernet Cotton in my stash that was screaming to be used!!

I did have to buy a little extra, but it was better than buying it all! Now we will just have to wait and see how it all comes together!

Isn't it cute? :inlove:

It's to show that I have completed all the motifs for Clue #1 in the CAL.
Kaleigh provided these badges for the CAL and KAL in another post:

I'm sorry, but this is a little confusing to me. There are 8 pies in that shape. Is each pie for each square that I get done for Clue #1 (because in Clue #1 we have to make 8 squares for the KAL)? Or is one pie just representing Clue #1 and so there will be 8 clues altogether for this mystery KAL? Thanks ahead of time for your help! :hellogoodbye:

There are eight clues (we know this runs for more weeks than that... it will all make sense later!), so a new badge will be available with each clue. It's mere coincidence that it's eight squares this week :)

I've been quite busy today taking care of a little 4 month old boy who's been having a hard time sleeping in bed for his naps because of his sinus congestion. So...I haven't gotten to start knitting yet but I did get the pattern printed off. My needles and yarn are ready for me to get going on Clue #1 this evening! Can't wait! I'm an experienced knitter, but I've never knitted in the diagonal so I'm anxious to give it a go. Plus, I love the colors of my Waverly yarn, so I can't wait to start knitting with it!! :knit:  I have enjoyed reading all the comments on the forum too! It's too bad we can't read and type on the computer while we knit!!

I know what I'll be doing in the evenings while I work! This should be fun. I've never done a KAL mystery before and I'm really looking forward to this! DD is a "hooker" and will be joining us in the CAL. I'm hoping her yarn comes soon (like today) so that she can get started, too.

Off to vacuum then to the needles! Whoooooooop!!!!
