It will look more square when the sides are seamed to the other motifs surrounding it in the blanket. It will look more circular for now.

Mine are coming out bigger then the square that printed out on the sheet, but when I measure them they are accurate according to the measurements on the first page... 4 and 1/2 inches by 4 and 1/2 inches.

I just realized that there was a blocking sheet, that you all are probably using to measure it by. :)

I tried an H hook and an I hook and both came out roughly 4 by 4. I might try with a J hook but I'll likely decide to just go with the H hook and if the blanket turns out a bit smaller, so be it. This is the first pieced together blanket I've ever attempted....
I'm glad no one else's looks like a square either because mine sure doesn't!

Hmm...maybe your printer is not set up to print a full size document.

Does it look right?

Looks like mine, so I'd say you're good to go!

I've completed three so far. I think we're on the right track!

I have no way of printing out the template. so I placed the square on my laptop, because the photo says actual size. My square is clearly smaller :(

PDF files are not actual size on your computer screen, they become that when printed (Most of the time)
You would be better to grab a ruler and measure a square out and draw that.
My template measures 4 1/4" (four and a quarter inches)
Hope this helps. Your motif could very well be the correct size and the PDF is off while on-screen
