Music to Knit and Crochet By.....

Postby Shandeh » Fri Feb 10, 2012 5:14 am

There are so many wonderful types of music in the world today.

What music do you enjoy listening to while working on your yarn crafts?

I sometimes will knit or crochet in complete silence, or while watching Netflix....or listening to books on tape.
But, other days, I will turn on the radio, or listen to CDs. I enjoy Smooth Jazz, Classical, Rock, and occasionally Heavy Metal.

As for particular musicians, I have a strange mix of favorites: Earth, Wind, and Fire; Charlotte Church; The Rippingtons; The Moody Blues; ELO; John Mayer; Badfinger; Andrea Bocelli; Soundgarden; Metallica; The Black Crowes; Del Amitri; James Taylor; The Cars; Yes, RUSH, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers; Doobie Brothers; and some others as well.

What are your favorites?

I almost always have my local National Public Radio station tuned in. So it is fair mix of current events, interviews and music. I like jazz, but I really dislike the jazz they play for THREE hours every night. I wonder if the guy even listens to it! Anyway, when that gets to be too much I have some classical guitar CDs and some piano ones by Horowitz and also Rubinstein that I sometimes listen too for a change. I generally like all music but I hate listening to the same thing over and over again. Since I crochet whenever I get an extra minute, I could be listening to any of those things.

While I knit, I like to listen to contemporary Christian -- I call it my "Jesus music" :knit: Between the music and my knitting, I am surrounded by serenity and security.

I have that station programmed in my car, and listen a lot! I enjoy their interviews and news broadcasts. And their classical and jazz programs are always nice too.

I love that too! There is a very tall radio station antenna about a mile from my house for WRCM 91.9 FM. Great reception in my house, so I have it set on the little radio in my craft room. But, I like the stories and sermons on another station better. It's located in the mountains, so their signal is pretty strong, too.

Being a Canadian, my exposure to NPR comes through podcats. I listen to Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me! and This American Life every week, I love the stories and humor in both :)

Hi Shandeh--Family Life Radio carries a lot of good messages too. On good days, I can pull in WMUZ "The Light" out of Detroit--Joyce Meyer message in AM and Bob Dutko in PM.
I like your varied taste in music--esp. Rush, the Cars. . .I'm liking the Band Perry too.

Cool! I will look for that station online. I enjoy listening to Greg Laurie. He is so laid back and fun. His California accent puts me at ease, and his talks are always intelligent and humorous.
