I am keeping all my Clue 1 blocks in one large ziplock bag.
I'll do the same with each new set of blocks.

What an excellent idea!! Thanks!! :bravo:

What a productive night! I finished half a square while spending 50 minutes on my recumbent bike, watching a local foodie show! Only reason I stopped when I did is I got to the point where I needed to switch colors and all my yarn was upstairs! :knit:

You need to make 4 squares with colors B & D.
And 4 MORE squares with colors B & C.

So, you'll have 8 total squares for Clue #1.

Mystery Knit along

Postby lovelou » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:48 pm

I am a little confused with the first part of the explanation

On row 5 after the increases we have 7 sts on the needle
Row 6 Knit
Then
Repeat last 2 rows 26 times more 55 sts
If you repeat the increases 26 times more, you should get 52 sts plus the 7 sts from row 5
shouldn't it be 59 sts all together and not 55 sts.

Please help me someone.

That was an error in the original pattern. The pattern has been corrected. You only repeat those 2 rows 24 times. You might need to clear your internet cache to see the updated pattern link.

Very surprised to see K2tog for decreases on both sides. Even though this is garter stitch, ssk gives better shaping to the square than K2tog at the beginning of the row to me. I experimented with both. I have been knitting almost 60 years and teach knitting at my local public library.
Knitting for others makes the world a better place.

I have been helping beginners with the knit-a-long and crochet-a-long. Today a knitter was quite overwhelmed with the pattern but felt much better after we did the first row and I showed her how I increase. When we got to the k2tog part she was very excited and said: "I know how to do this! I've done this before!!!"

I think it is terrific how the KAL and CAL work so well for beginners! And I'm loving it as much as anyone else too! I think this is why Bernat picked easier-to-understand stitches for the first clue.
