Getting My Stash Organized While I Wait

Postby Marilyn58 » Sat Feb 04, 2012 8:10 pm

Hi, :hellogoodbye:

I'm really anxious to get started on the KAL but since the first clue doesn't arrive for 11 days I thought I would get some organization done with my stash. We built a new home over the summer and finally moved our belongings in November. I had an awful lot of yarn still in shipping boxes which I purchased while we were renting during the building phase. It felt good to open all the boxes again (felt like Christmas!)and log them into my yarn database and place them in my plastic storage drawers along with the patterns they were purchased for. At this point I'm starting to feel like a yarn "hoarder" so I better start revving up the projects too.

But because I don't want to start a really big project right before the KAL, I came across the pattern and yarn for mini key ring purses which will be just the right thing to work on until the KAL starts. Here is a picture:

Is it possible to post the pattern for the mini key ring purses? Those are just too cute and what a great way to use up scraps of yarn. Thanks!

Hi Piecemaker,

I don't know if I can refer you to another yarn company's website but I found them on Red Heart. Just do a "search" for mini key ring purses. The patterns are free and call for #1 super fine yarn.

What are YOU working on to pass the time?

Postby Type1Mom » Thu Feb 16, 2012 2:12 pm

So, it seems most of us are breezing through this first clue. What are you working on until the next clue comes out? I cannot sit still at night, so I have to be working on something. These are my two WIPs:

an Entrelac blanket for my new niece due in April:

a granny square blanket for one of my extra daughters. Have 63 of these to piece together. I'm staring that process tonight:

How about everyone else?

The KAL here is taking up all of the extra time I have then some. I finished the crochet squares in no time...the knit squares on the other hand will take me a year.

Well, I started a Navajo blanket (done with an afghan hook) a week ago. Plus, I make jewelry...and sell it...so I have been working on that. I also have a birth announcement I am cross-stitching for my newest grandson. And am planning on making a woven bead belt for a doll. Plus, making things like Strawberry Shortcake for dessert...lol I can knit...but like you nicolep...it would take me forever to do those. Oh!! Plus, I am homeschooling my neighbor's daughter Monday thru Friday. Thankfully that is only for 2 - 3 hours a day.

I too can't just sit at night so I crochet and crochet and crochet. Right now I have about 7 projects, 8 including this one, going and just pick up the one that moves me at the moment! I just got the 1st clue today at work and had not decided on colors so I went to my LYS and picked up colors that take me out of my comfort zone but are beautiful and make me smile!

Have fun, I certainly am :bravo:
