You'll need to get the same number of yards in whatever yarn you're using.
Temperature Scarf KAL: Bernat Satin, corrugated ribbing.

Any idea how many yards in a skein of Velour? I can't seem to find it...

The information I found says that Bernat Velour came in 100 gram balls, with 45 yards per ball. It was a super bulky yarn.

That is a beautiful sweater! And it looks so nice on you! You sure you are going to donate it? :) Seriously, someone will be very proud and thankful to wear it.

What kinds of felted projects have you made with this yarn?

Have you made any UN-felted projects with the "Felting" yarn?

I created laundry dryer balls using Bernat Felting. These help my clothes dry fluffy without using chemicals such as Bounce or Downey.

To make, roll about half the skein into a tight ball. Place into a pantyhose leg (footie or anything like that) and throw it into your washing machine with your next load. I found I had to 'wash' it 3-4 times before it felted nicely. shift it around the stocking so it won't felt into the pantyhose during loads. Once this is felted then wrap the remaining skein around the ball. Nearly forgot to mention to take your tail and tuck it in using a needle. Wash this several times again in your washer using the pantyhose. Once it is felted you can remove it from the pantyhose and toss into the dryer with your next load. It may continue felting more, but it should not felt onto other clothing as it would have pre-pantyhose stage.

I have about 10 balls, they tend to get lost inside pant legs and sleeves. I put 4-5 in each load, though I could get away with less. Having extra balls helps when you want to put the next load in the dryer but just cannot locate the ones from the last load! :P

Thank you! Yes, I DID donate it. I saw a photo of it on the charity's website, so I know it got there.

Interesting! I've never heard of doing that before.
Should the balls be wet or dry when you put them in with the clothes in the dryer?

Dry. The clothes are already wet! ;) They are used just for bouncing around in there. The bouncing helps 'puff' the clothing by separating them from each other. Keeping the clothes separate also allows the air to flow through better cutting dry time down by a bit. My dryer used to take the same time as a wash load, now it is finished early enough I can (if I am on the ball) fold the dryer load before the washer load is ready for the dryer. Which I am sure means I am saving that much time and money in hydro bills.

Once upon a time people used to put tennis balls in their dryers to do the same thing when washing duvets or pillows or winter coats, then they realized the fumes the tennis ball gave off was bad. I personally never used the tennis ball, I was terrified it would melt and make a mess!

Bernat Envy yarn

Postby cedarpuppy » Sat Feb 18, 2012 12:21 pm

I am looking for Bernat Envy yarn in Ebony. Have tried several places for discontinued yarns but get no response. Does anyone know where I could find a few skeins? Very new to this forum!

You might be able to find it on Ravelry or eBay. Good luck!
