I am making two blankets and merci for the complement. However, so far I have only knitted 2 1/2 squares. My shoulder is sore! I hope your hand feels better soon.
Bonjour :knit:

When I get sore like that, I always take a break. Don't want to injure myself with my knitting!

So, I get out of my knitting chair, do some stretching, and walk around the house for a while. Sometimes, I will go outside and walk around the yard as well. Occasionally, I will turn on my Wii Fit Plus and do some exercises there. And sometimes, I just take a nap. :)

I live in Puerto Rico and there are no stores here that sell suitable yarn and since I've nothing suitable for an afghan in my stash, I had to do the mail-order thing. I've been itchin to do an afghan and what better way than to do it in a mystery-type setting.

Oh, I hope your yarn arrives very soon! :)

I hope you're received your yarn. I know what is you feeling when you're waitin something...

I'm currently working on my second square. The first one I made only came out to about 8 Inches, but Size 8 needles are all I have so as long as I remains consistent, I should be fine.

But just a question: if all of my squares end up being 1 1/2 inches smaller than they should be, that's a whole foot smaller than the total amount should be. So how much smaller will my afghan end up being?

I did my second square last night and wasn't concentrating properly when I did it, so I ended up tinking and frogging far more than I should have. First few times were because I found I had several blocks of stocking stitch instead of garter and even though I could just drop stitches individually and then recreate the garter look it was SO SLOW and it ended up being quicker ripping back 6 or 7 rows and starting again. Later I kept noticing I had even numbers of stitches instead of odd but luckily I was keeping count so it was only every 4th row I somehow had to rip out the previous 2 to get back to the correct amount. Moral of the story. Pay attention, and once I start getting tired PUT DOWN THE KNITTING!!!

Well, I took a few breaks and shook my arms about a few times, but I really like the nap idea the best! I'm pretty tired of the volume too, but only have 3 to go now, so more than half done. And I browse the forums. Went over to the CAL photos and liked the squares when they are blocked. They would make a great cushion and that would be just about the right size for a crochet project to try for me.

Thanks! I got it worked through a bit as the day went by, but am happy to be done for today and reading a book now. I think there's a lot to be said for pacing yourself and respecting your rhythm. I still have 3 more to go, but have a few done now. Don't think I could do two Blankets though - I admire those who can. I am thinking though that maybe a cushion or two would be fun to add.....if I tried a few of those CAL blocks for fun..... :hrmm:

Have just started my 5th block. Wanted to at least finish the 4th before going to bed. I kept dozing off so cut up and did a few things around the house to wake up then back to knitting. Tomorrow will hopefully be the day to get 2 done to stay on target.

This does NOT mean you will make 2 solid squares. It's just an easy way to measure how much you will need.

Thanks, Shandeh! I should have enough of B without needing another skein :D
