I was planning to do the Crochet-along and purchased yarn amounts for that. If I change to the Knit-along, will the yarn amounts be the same?

No, the amounts are not the same. The CAL has one color that is very dominate, and actually listed as the main color, while the KAL colors are far more equally distributed, although A takes more and E takes less yarn than B,C, or D. If you want to do the KAL now, why not get yarn for it, and either do both at once, if you have the time, or do one now and the other later.
Knitting for others makes the world a better place.

In that link, look under the "Skills You'll Learn & Use" heading.
All of the words that are underlined are links to Bernat instruction videos.

That stitch IS challenging! I've been knitting for several years, and it was difficult for ME as well. :?
But, the best part....you only have to do it ONCE.
