Also-i wonder if i can knit a normal square instead of a diamond to avoid increasing & decreasing thus making squares faster. Or might that be a cop-out lol

The square needs to be knit diagonally, or the design of the blanket will not work.

I am slow with the decrease/increase square. Perhaps I can just knit a 55 stitch bi-color square?? Would that mess up the afghan? Is anyone doing that? I mean- it takes me 4 mins per row average, and there are 100 rows, so it is taking me approx 4-5 hours a square. And to make 8 will take me 40 HOURS. Wow. Or! Should I challenge myself and do the diagonals. Hmmm. . . . .

I am halfway thru square 3 - hang in there - it will be beautiful in the end.

I think I read somewhere that Shandeh says we need to make them on the diagonal for the design to turn out right. On the diagonal, the color change goes from corner to corner. If you did 2 colors on a square, the color change wouldn't do that. It would just split the square in half. But don't despair! I'm still working on my second one. I've had lots of trouble with gauge! I knit three squares and had to rip 2 of them apart because one was way to big and one way to small!

I also read somewhere that Shandeh says we will have at least a week or two extra, after all the clues have been given, so we can get caught up if needed. So we can finish Clue 1 after Clue 8 if we need to. Besides, the more you knit Clue 1, the easier it'll get!! Happy knitting! :knit:

Finally after a weekend of working and knitting I have another square done! Of course it's only the second and I still have six more to do, but I'm working on it... Here are both of my squares together I used Greek Sea as B and Turtle Green as C and Breath of Blue as D.
