Finger Stretching and Exercise

Postby Kikibatt » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:01 pm

How many of my KALers have been googling finger stretches and exercises? Boy my fingers are sore and I am only done with half of the blocks! I don't think I have knit this much this quickly in the past couple of years! GL to you all getting it in this first week!

That is a good idea  - hadn't thought of that! If you find any good ones let us know! I certainly haven't knitted this fast and furiously before and I think the only thing keeping me going at this pace is the mystery and everyone's posts. One more to go for me, and boy will I be proud to get that first badge!

There are some great ones out there! And it is important to relax your fingers and wrists every now and then. Bending your wrist back and gently pushing your fingers toward the back of the wrist is a great stretch. Rotating your wrists and shoulders is also good. My guild does a lot of stretching since one of our members is older and keeps preaching to us 'youngsters' about carpal tunnel and arthritis.

Here is great place to start http://www.livestrong.com/article/19076 ... -knitters/

GL! I still have 4 to go!

Yes, it's a huge amount of knitting for this first clue !!! :knit: :knit: :knit: :knit: :knit:
For the badge, I made a mistake : I didn't read very well the instructions, and I put mine as choices ... In fact, I still have 3 squares to knit .... :knit: :knit: :knit:
For the second clue, I'll wait to post :scared: !

Thanks for the "gymnastique des doigts"
My husband broke very seriously his left wrist in November (of course, he's left-handed ), and is still on functional rehabilitation ... His fingers are quite paralysed, and I'll work my own flexibility with him
I must just adapt the movements because I knit "continental" (I think it's the word : the yarn is on my rigth fingers, the "index" not the thumb, and so I can knit very fast with short moves)

I love those stretches from the livestrong website mentioned above. Do take breaks! I have met knitters in their 20's who have overuse injuries from knitting!

Yesterday I decided to take a break from knitting to bake some bread. It turns out going from knitting to kneading isn't very good at relaxing your fingers :?
