COLORS

Postby mcdtheta » Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:35 am

Everyone has done a great job with color selection - I love that there are so many different combos I don't think I have seen the same combo twice!! I look forward to what is next!!

I finished all of my squares for Clue 1 and after looking at every one else's photos, notice that all of my squares have what looks like a hole at the beginning of the 2nd round, where we are to Ch 4. Here is a pic of what I am talking about. Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

Looks to me like you only have 19 double crochet in the round. There should be 20 total when done, that includes the chain stitches at the beginning.

Does anyone have any great tips on how to avoid that? Besides taking a break? I really wanted to get my tails in so I could get to the next stage of blocking them all, but now my fingers are so sore I need this break. LOL
I love how soft and cushy Waverly is! I just wanna make a large leaf-like pile and jump in there!

Karen - when I do squares and circles that have the ring in the middle, I carry the tail and crochet over it along with the ring as I do those center stitches... that saves me at least one tail per item to tuck!! ;)

I agree with didedi, Mikeyssmail on you tube has some wonderful tutorials on how to do just that! It saves so much time in the end

I thought I read somewhere to leave the ends about 12 inches long to seam them together with? I am new to this so maybe I read it wrong, in which case I have 12 squares with 2 twelve inch long tails apiece...lol

The tail left at the edge of the piece can be used for seaming. The tail in the middle isn't usually quite as useful, so unless we're in for some pretty complicated joining, I doubt we'll need those too...

I think that would look really nice! Are you questioning the colour or the shade of colour?

The color - It looks beautiful in the basket with all of the colors, but since I don't have that color in my living room color scheme I am a little unsure of how it will look. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

I like it! I never thought of having a "color" as a main color. It is going to be great to see how different all of these afghans look!

I made all 12 squares yesterday. Was puzzled by their roundish shape. When I was blocking them, I made them square. May be I should have left them the way they are. Let' see what the next clue brings.

I think I can guess what the full layout is going to be, since clues 2, 3, 5, 6 are of the same shape.
