I found that to get it to look right I did the first three rows and then gently tugged on the tail to get it to look square.

when you block it than it will look better you pin the 4 corners don't give up as long as your tension is right you can do a lot when you block

I'm a beginner too. I've tried to learn in the past, and never went back to it fast enough, with enough repetition to remember it. I've started with some scrap yarn, and I'm planning on stopping at Michael's tonight to pick up my good yarn, and a correct size of new needles. I'm motivated! My sample actually looks sorta like it's supposed to.

I love how we beginners are attempting this project! I'm currently finishing my first square. I know I wont finish it in time for Wednesday but for me I just want to finish it - even at a slower pace.

Nice to know that I wasn't the only newbie trying this. Currently finishing my fourth square...... Just think we have all of the knit along to get caught up. Hoping to get at least two more done by Wednesday.

Am a beginning knitter and wasn't sure if I would be able to keep up, so decided to do the CAL instead, but when finished 1st clue in just a few hours decided would challenge myself - even if I can't keep up.
Have finished 2 knitted baby afghans but were mostly knit and purl stitches no increases/decreases so am already being challenged in week 1.

Have finished 1.5 squares already and hope to have 4 done by the time the next clue is released but still not sure I haven't bitten off more than I can chew :scared:

You're so inspiring I think I'm going to give the KAL a second chance! I was SO frustrated after trying again and again to do those increases and hideous KPK that I threw my needles and went for the CAL.............

Help, so it seems that getting the last square to work means nothing.... The purl stitch is killing me so my question is this....what happens if my needle is behind the one holding my stitches when I do the purl stitch? I put it in from the right but it goes behind the needle instead of in front I just can't seem to make the stitch any other way and I have no reference point to know if it looks right...thanks much

Have you tried checking out our How To Purl video? You'll get a good visual of exactly how it should look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=091d3mfCY14
