What are YOU working on to pass the time?

The Babette pattern is available from Interweave crochet. You can also find some great pics that might help with creating your own pattern at the Purl Bee: http://www.purlbee.com/babette-blanket-2/. Another source would be to go to the library and see if they have the Interweave Spring 2006 edition which featured this blanket. This pattern if very close the look I want for my granddaughters going off to college afghan.

Neya- that's great your tring to learn to knit socks. Im a knitter tring to improve my crocheting. When I was learning to knit socks videos helped me a lot. Have you ever tried going on youtube.com? They have good videos for learning to knitting socks.

Well, I'm somewhat of a beginner at both, and I try to challenge myself... so, CAL for my crochet skills, socks for my knitting skills.
YouTube is my next stop - I've been trying to learn using written guides with pictures, but apparently it's not enough.

I work in blocks of times on other things. I work about 22 minutes at a time on something I need to do and then give myself 8 minutes to work on projects I want to be doing. Once I get everything else finished I can work on whatever I want, but working in 22 minute blocks at a time makes sure that housework, my kids school (home schooled), and anything else I have on that days list that I need to do gets finished before my husband gets home.

That's a really interesting way to divide your time... I always try to work in bulks of at least one hour, and always lose my patience too soon... yet I never thought of trying less.

I"m working on a nightmare granny square baby blanket. A friend asked me for a baby blanket, in blues, with a guitar on it, and "rock n roll". I found a pattern I could alter for it....it's small grannies in a grid, and you follow a diagram. I altered it to fit my needs....then after starting it realized i'd be making over 400 of these little grannies. I'm about going out of my mind. it's not so much the small grannies...but the ones that are half one color, and half another. there end up being 12 to 14 loose ends to weave in per granny.....AAAHHHH!!! it'll be amazing when it's done, but to save my sanity I've decided to just make huge lots of grannies of each color at one time, then weave in all the loose ends at one time, THEN try to fit them to the diagram.

I've found I actually get a lot more done by working in shorter period of times. There are times when I'm spending more than one 22 minute block on something, but that 8 minute break goes a long way toward preventing burn out and general frustration. For things that I really dislike doing I do 11 minutes of that and then 11 minutes of something else I need to do so I'm still working for 22 minutes before a break. It's a lot easier to deal with something I don't enjoy when I know that I can stop as soon as the timer goes off

I'm thrilled that I looked up the "Babette" blanket.... Got a granny square book for a project i did for my daughter about a year ago and of course had to make one of each square (besides the ones for her) so now I have a ton finished all in blues, greens and off white leftovers that hadn't found a home yet.....so now all I need is to make the smaller ones with the rest of the yarn from my ugly scrap blanket (huge granny blanket with every yarn I've used over the past two years that I couldn't toss but wasn't big enough for anything else and yes it's ugly but I love it and don't think it'll ever be finished!)

I'm working on my Grand daughter's afghan that I started the week before the first clue came out. Still need to add the hearts to the solid squares.
Gonna have to try a babette blanket soon, those are really pretty!

I am making some fingerless gloves for my granddaughter. I am using # 10 cotton and a size 7 steel hook. They are pretty. Will try to post a pic when done.

I am the most ADD knitter/hooker ever, so I'm knitting socks and another afghan in addition to the multitude of projects that get started and shelved for things that are "more fun" at the time.
