Crochet-Along Clue 1: Spoilers and Photos

Last week when I started making my squares I realized that I just wasn't crazy about my main color, antique. So, a visit to the yarn store later, my main color is now cadet. I really like how the colors look together now, and I can't wait to get the second clue in a little while. I'm trying to stay busy doing housework, but I keep checking back to see if it gets posted a little early. For those of us on the east coast, it's a long time between waking up and getting the clue!!! Here's a picture of my little squares with their long tails

First time doing a CAL and I love it. Can't wait until the second clue comes out! I have been trying to attach a picture but can't figure out how to do it.

I am sooooooo disgusted with Flickr! I can't open my account - due to technical difficulties, can't start a new one - due to technical difficulties, and can't get them to tell me why - due to technical difficulties. Go figure!

So anyway, I am excited about the way my CAL is looking with colors out of my happy zone. I love all the pictures that ahve been posted here and can't wait to get the new clue, in 19 minutes!@

I had done about 5 with the H hook, and decided to switch to an I. It's just easier in my hand and I don't feel the H is loose enough for this pattern, and I am generally a "loose hooker!" LOL! Will post a photo when I get a chance, and IF I can figure out how to do it from the regular computer.

Finished all 12 squares for the first clue, including blocking them so I don't have a ton of wonky squares to try to block or just stitch together at the end. Now it's time to get started on the KAL

two questions: one, how did you block them, and two, I've been told by fabulous knitters (including one who just had an original design published in Vogue Knitting) that only natural fibers can be blocked. So, how does one block acrylic, a synthetic fiber?

Using heat. I use steam to block synthetic fibers.
