Thank you for reminding me that there was a chart to use too. :) I was coming on here to ask for help with round 5, but instead just looked at the chart. :notworthy:

I too hate weaving in ends... Does it make the petal look different if you slip up it? I would think it would make it pucker.

I wasn't planning on blocking but now I'm thinking I might for this afghan. What is the BEST thing to use for a blocking board?

I use a towel folded up. then I take my template, place pins all around it, remove the template, spray the towel, place my motif down on the pins, add more pins where needed, then spray the top of the motif till soaked then I let it sit on a heat register till dry then repeat ...
I do not have blocking boards, never blocked a thing in my life before this, so this was my poor man's way out

The only reason I put the 1 inch check on my ironing board is my measuring tape sometimes grows legs and I got sick of trying to find it! Using a towel is a really good idea if you are going to steam it dry or sit on a heat register! It will prevent the acrylic yarn from burning!

As long as you keep the slip stitches loose, it won't change the look.

First octagon done! :bravo:

Mine is coming out 10-1/2" "relaxed". I think if I block them, I'll be fine. :cloud9:

VERY cute! Going to be a very interesting and cute afghan. Anxious to do something with my "accent" color! :knit:

You are so welcome! I was happy to see I wasn't the only one. I also read through before I start, but I kept getting flummoxed on that one. As I said, senior moments . . .

I used my yoga mat, folded over. I wasn't applying heat, I just pinned the motifs and spritzed with water, then left to dry. BTW, I put the mat on top of my washing machine. I had to really think of a place I could leave them overnight without the cat or the kid bothering them!

Oh boy. I decidedly left my hook at home while getting ready for work... This is going to be a long day.

You'll get all kinds of ideas about blocking by reading our existing discussion about it:

That's what I got with my template also.
