Ok, Row 6 IS NOT WORKING!!!! (for me) Going to frog out row 5, which looked ok, I think , and redo row 5 to see if that fixes row 6.

Well I got to round 7 and I'm short at the end, so I have to go back to round 6 and see what I did wrong.
Round 5 was a little confusing, but I just did stitch by stitch and it came out great. I also slip-stitched after round 3, and you cannot tell at all. Very pretty results! I love this one, and it will definitely keep me busy longer than clue 1. Good luck all!

11 inches
I just grabbed some 12 by 12 cardstock and cut it to 11 inches then cut off the corners to make a octagon
each side comes to 4.5 inches, and side to side (across) is 11

Well, be careful what you wish for!! I had hoped this clue would offer a little more work since I finished the last so quickly... I started during my lunch hour and did not even finish the third round because I re-did a few parts a couple of times! Yes, this clue will be more challenging and will probably take longer to complete!!
